Hi there!

I checked your work, and it seems to me a very good idea, but I have a problem.

The robot reactions for player only in phase IV. are not the same in the table on the 1st page of the ppt and on the board on the 2nd page of the ppt. Which one is the correct one? Could you fix it?

Thanks. Imre from Hungary.

Thanks Imre!

I found and corrected the mistake. I don't know how long it will take the next upload to post. Please give me some feedback. I found it made the games a lot closer (hard to beat the robot when he continually rolls x2 on the normal game).

You wrote, that if you got good feedback, than you would develope the MOD, and make the robot smarter. Could you tell me about your ideas? I am very interested.

It is good to hear you corrected the mistake, but which version should I use to try your AI? The one in the table or on the board?

Thanks, Imre

I deleted the first incorrect board and they should both do the same thing now. If you find something else that doesn't match let me know. My idea on making the robot smarter involved a chart that basically would try to get it to make a better choice over a choice that did not really benefit it (for example, choosing $ over x2 when maxed on economy). I really didn't get any strong feedback so I kind of put it on the back burner. But perhaps I can dust it off and maybe with your input we can get it right.

Thank you for correcting the board!

We played a 3 player game with the robot as the 3rd player (I randomly chose the die with which I rolled the robot action, so everyone chose one action only). The droid achieved 52 points!!! (This only could happen I think, because the economy part is designed to work in a 2 player game under a game for 24 chips, and in a 36 chip game the cyborg collected the most of the VPs.)

I think it would be a very huge project to make the bot smarter. It would need a table with all the cards in it, or maybe all available permutations of the cards, and the bot could make its decision according to the bonuses are provided by the card, and it could use these bonuses. But maybe it would make the bot too complex.

Imre

I think the main way to make him smarter is to not have him pick things that don't help him or minimally help him depending on what he rolls.

As I noticed, the economy represents the number of production worlds he has in his tableau, and the credit stands for the cards with which he pays when he wants to place down new worlds and developments.

There are some things I do not understand. Why does he draw 3 cards in phase 3? Maybe because he loses so many cards when you are looking for a development or a world when he is in phase 2 or 3?

Yes, it is a good idea of yours. He should not choose phase 1 if he is full of cards, not choose phase 4 if he is unproduced or economy on a low value, etc...

And maybe would it be good, if his economy would increase if he put down a new PRODUCTION world or WINDFALL world? Or is it a bad idea to relate the economy and credit system of the bot with the real cards he has in his tableau and the amount of cards he has in his hand?

My modification is for SOLO play. Solo play for the robot plays completely differently from a regular game. Windfall and production planets don't matter for the robot. His tableau only has 2 functions: First when he hits 12 cards in his tableau it triggers game end. Second at the end of the game you add the victory point values of his tableau including any bonus points he has from 6 point developments (besides the 6 or 9 points he gets for the token developments).

His "cards" form a deck that he uses to "search" for planets and developments. When his cards are gone he does not get to settle or develop (via deck). When his deck is full, it represents him having a lot of cards in his hand, thus he has a lot of cards giving him a good chance of having a planet or development to play. His credits represent his ability to pay for them.

So the robot's Tableau is only for game end/victory points other than that they mean nothing. His deck represents availability of cards he needs. His credits are his ability to pay for things and his economy represents his production value of his planets (despite what planets he actually has in his tableau).

Yes, I think the same. But how could be improved the robot, so he wouldn't choose phase 4 if his economy is low, or choose settle if he has no cards? The only way is a complex IF...THEN case system. Or not?

Yes that is how I was going to do it, but trying to keep it as simple as possible.

If $ then If credit = 4 then If unproduced Production else x2 else $ else $.
