Gift Obligations.doc (34 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
The game reference cards list how to get rid of a gift, but they don't list what the gifts do! So this a reference to do just that, which should be helpful especially to new players. Print on card stock and trim off the white space. It can be folded below the bottom border to stand beside the board, or it can be left flat and slipped beneath a board edge.

The wording of the influence transfer case is wrong. It isn't the least influence, it is the player with the oldest minister who is also not first or second in the ministry. They could easily be 4rd in influence in the ministry in say a 5 player game -- but just happen to have the next oldest minister.

I believe it is least influence, with the tiebreaker being rank of the official (higher number=least senior breaks the tie). From the rules, p. 17: If more than two players have influence in the ministry, then the player with the least influence must temporarily give all his or her influence to another player. The player with the least influence is the one with the least markers. In the case of a tie for least markers, look at each tied player's most senior official in the ministry; the tied player with least influence is the one whose senior official has the least seniority, shown by the highest number next to the official space.

Thanks for the file, I totally missed the bit about not being able to bribe more officials than someone who gave you a gift.

Yes, that is the rule upon which I based the 4th case on the reference card.

That's the one I find easiest to overlook during a game, too!
