18AL Player Aid v1.1 (11-16-10).pdf (329 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
I have edited version 1.0 to add additional clarifying information regarding the initial setting of Company Par Value and actions that accompany the floating of a company.

Thanks goes to J S (Stoffel) for this information.

I have also made some cosmetic changes to the file in order to (hopefully) enhance usability.

Please continue to offer suggestions for improvement. Hopefully it will not take me 6 months to address them.

I have compiled and tweaked information from other sources here on BGG and added a dividend pay-out chart to create this 2 - sided player aid. I have found it useful. Hopefully others will as well. I welcome comments.

Converted original submitted file to PDF to help with some downloading issues.

That is the new Microsoft Word 2007 documents file extension. Thanks for the interest.

I have submitted a PDF version of my player aid to help with some downloading issues. I should have done that originally. shake

It says on page one that "at float, the president sets par value". Doesn't that actually happen when the first stock cert (the President's cert) is sold?

Correct, that's a mistake in this player aide. It makes no sense because if there's no par value till float then what are you paying per share for the first 40% of the company?

Suggested changes:
Old:
Quote:

May not buy stock you sold during that round.
May not own more than 60%.
Corp floats if 60% is out of I.O.
At float, president sets par value.
Yellow don't count towards limit.
May buy/sell or sell/buy, but not sell/buy/sell in a single turn.

New:
Quote:

a) Buy one cert from I.O. or O.M. or one private from a player.
May not buy stock you sold during that round.
May not own more than 60% of a corp.
First cert of corp must be President’s; buyer sets par value, pays 2x par for 2 shares.
Corp floats if 60% is out of I.O.; Corp gets 10x par from bank, stock set, charter > President.
Yellow don't count towards limit.
May buy/sell or sell/buy, but not sell/buy/sell in a single turn.

Man it's tough to squeeze all that info into a couple of lines and be consistent.

Thank you both for pointing out this error. It has been corrected in the latest version of the player aid - awaiting clearance as of 11/18/2010

I like your player aid.

There is one more key bit of information I think it would be good to add, if you feel like it: the amount of cash needed to float a corp, at the different par values.

Peter,

That would be very useful information to help players determine if they have enough remaining cash after the privates auction to float their own railroads and at what share price point. I will see if it is possible to cram anything more into this document.

Thank you!

Dan
