The Expanded Rules come in 3 parts:
*The Expanded Rules - This is a standalone ruleset for Star Wars : Starship Battles miniatures. It completely updates the original ruleset, fixing some of game play problems while keeping the basic design and level of complexity the same.
* Optional Rules - These rules add slightly more complexity to the game but also add quite a bit more flavor and fidelity to the movies. These include rules for asteroids and moons, fighter recovery and repair, close range combat between capital ships and many others.
* Command Card & Force Rules - These rules add a layer of surprise to the game by introducing a deck of command cards which are kept secret from the other player. At the right time you can play these cards to survive a devastating attack, or succeed in a one in a million gamble.
