The d6 Shooters - Long Road to Reno.pdf (2.28 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
version 1.1 This PDF file includes two playsheets (one color and one grayscale), the full rules (although you should be able to play directly from the instructions on the playsheet) and a turn example.

Changes in the game include the addition of a simple shootout when the Gang Members attack, new limits for Posse and Food (max of 12, so that everything in the game can be played and tracked with d6's, new events and items, and a few other details. I've played a couple of times with the new version and I really like it and think the changes are definitely for the better. So for now, I'm calling this game "finished" (well, I am still planning on making an Event/Item/Poker deck at some point, but this works fine as is for now using a die roll for those things). I may still tweak this a bit here and there, and I'll update a new PDF if/when there are significant changes. And I certainly will still welcome any comments or suggestions for improvement.

This seems like a very good game. I'm just about to print it out and I can't wait to try it.

I did find an error in this file though. Right after Esson there is an event on the b&w sheet, but it is missing from the color sheet.

Ah, good catch. I believe there is a newer file in the queue where I had fixed that and a few other minor typos in the rules, but otherwise, I'd say play it as is for now... If you want to print in color, and want to take the extra time to reach that town, then you can skip the event. Or just note that space with an "E" on your color sheet when printed.

I would really appreciate some more thematic town names. The ones used now (Wii, Essen, etc.) really ruin the story of the game for me. Fun game though, and thanks for sharing.

Hi, Yoki.

I'll try to upload a PDF sometime soon that also includes a separate playsheet with either blank town names or more Western sounding names, so you can use that one if you prefer. The names on the first one were meant to be placeholders. I do like the names for the second one, though... To me, things like Botox and Hoodia actually sound like they could be names of Old West towns.

Best,
Eric

This is an excellent game, I'm enjoying the decisions needed to be made each turn, brings an element of decisions making to the yahtzee concept.

Thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate that and I'm glad you're enjoying the game. But I always thought Yahtzee was a decent game and does have some important decisions. It's mostly about the odds at a particular time and your likelihood of getting something you're going for, and when to suck it up and put a crappy roll into your 2's score or into "Chance". By and large, most decisions are fairly obvious, but they're still there. What I was specifically going for, though, was to include some narrative into a Yahtzee framework, which I'd been enjoying in the game Expedition.

However, the d6shooters01.pdf here doesn't seem as sharp as the original (2.28MB) file or the version hosted on your site. It's making my eyes go 'funny', problems with me or the upload?

I just tried the links above, and I found it the other way around... the newer one, dated Aug. 27, looks razor sharp, and the older one looks fuzzy. Is it possible you had them backwards? The newer one should have the resource boxes on the right.

This is a VERY good game. I don't think it needs to be touched or changed in any way. I've started a few rides to Reno already... not all successful, but I've delivered the bad boy to justice a couple of times.

Just recently came across this (what looks to be a) gem of a game, and am currently trying to learn it. The rules say you start with 6 Ammo, but the sheet shows 5, so I'm guessing there's a small typo under "Starting Resources", page 2.
The rules also refer to the "cards" on page 7-8, which aren't in the file (I know where they are now, but was rather confused upon first read through)

Hi Tor. Sorry for the confusion. At some point I'll update both the rules and the play sheet to match. The play sheet should take precedence, though, so start with 5 Ammo.

This looks very good (haven't had a chance to play it yet). However I notcied a small error. 'Shorter Version' says you can make Essen the destination, but there's no Essen on the map (maybe this was one of the names that was changed?)

Yeah, sorry. Use either Buckskin or Thompson as the destination.
