U1 - SECR - LBSCR.pdf (2.45 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
1825 Unit 1 company charters with smaller 5/8" tokens for the SECR and LBSCR with concepts from Akke's charters here on BGG and the charters found at Dave's Morningside Station.
Oh no. You really don't want to do that. SVG is a lovely vector format which keeps all the curves and everything perfect. PDF is also a nice vector format. You really really don't want to have some sort of intermediate bitmap form doing nothing but setting pixels in stone and wasting silly amounts of space.
The inkscape page has several other suggestions for how you can work around this. As a mac user, I'd probably use the built-in PDFifying stuff, I presume there are similar things for you.

I was able to upgrade my Inkscape version and convert directly without any font issues. However, I still had to rasterize the font effects (otherwise they did weird things).
The newer versions are cleaned up a bit, directly exported to PDF, with the necessary rasterized bits at 600DPI.
Great! Are they small enough that you can fit them all on one file page now?

No, the rasterized bits (such as the shadow behind the lettering) still makes the PDF pretty large. But, at least they're at the 600 DPI I wanted them at originally for the raster bits and vector for everything else.
I'm afraid I find these charters too busy and at the same time, the fonts are pretty generic and stuff like shadows is, well, unnecessary.
I happen to feel that clean and graphically simple designs with a handful of colours (ideally matching the shares) add a huge appeal to the game, and warrior princesses simply distract from it.

For the most part I used URW Bookman because it's simple, readable and period. The only two that changed from that was the LNWR (Cloister Black) and SECR (URW Chancery). I used the former because I saw several old photos of the LNWR that used an Old English font and the latter since it was somewhat similar to the SECR advertisement.
The design on the GWR and GER tokens isn't actually a font. It's a vector trace of their actual heralds. I would have done the same for the other railroads if I could have found anything to base a herald on.
As for the drop shadow... I like them because they add a bit of dimension to the company name.

The background color of the tokens match the primary color of all the shares. In the case of the LSWR I did lighten the tone a bit to create a greater distinction between it and the SECR, and to also more accurately represent the tone of the restored LSWR engines.

Old locomotives do have a certain flair... Anyway, they're not just random images... the image on each one relates to the actual railroad.
But, I'm a fan of game chrome myself so I prefer a colorful relevant image (or black and white woodcut in the case of the LNWR) as opposed to white space for the treasury.

Also, where do you find room to place 2cm tokens?
Not ideal, but the only circular punch I could find was a 3/4". If I could have found a 1/2" or 1.5cm punch that's the size they would have been.

Paper Shapers Large Circular Punch is 1/2". Don't ask me why the medium one is 1", I don't know. Costs a few bucks from scrapbook.com or your local arts supply store.

I see your files are still crazy big...

I found an EK Success 5/8" punch (had to order it online). Now they're the same size as the plastic tokens Tresham packages.
Everything fits well on crowded sites like London as well.
Plus, I preferred to have a symbol on the sheet for each station instead of the x1, x3, etc. beneath the the station costs.
This way you can glance and see how many stations each company has.
