These are the heavily massaged variant rules we used when running Thunder Road at RinCon '09. Vehicles have hit points, you can smash through cars and knock 'em outta your way, you can shoot other cars, and there's a whole lotta blow 'em up goodness inside.

Sounds pretty interesting, especially the range rules for shooting, but you seem to be missing some important bits...

In particular, there is no mention of how many hit points each car has at the start. Is it based on the rank of each car (4/5/6), or some other pre-set values?

Referring to "big vehicles" and "small vehicles" is somewhat ambiguous. It's obvious where the Eliminator and Doom Buggies fit, but what about the mid-sized Avenger? Is that classified as big or small, and how does it fit into the turn order rules with the other vehicle of its class? Or, does each player get only two vehicles plus a helicopter?

Also, there is no mention whatsoever of repairing - is it safe to assume those rules are not used at all?

Whups. Yeah.

We played with Jada's BattleMachines, so there were two classes of vehicles: big and small. Each team had one big and two small. The Battle Rigs and whatever the pickups were were our big vehicles, the other two on the team were small. Big vehicles had 6 hit points, the small ones had 5. If you're playing with the cars that came with the game, the Avenger is a small vehicle. If you want three classes, call the Doom Buggy a small vehicle with 4 HP and have them move before the Avenger.

Nope, no repairing. You get blown up, you get blown up.
