shipyard_-_rules_condensed_v1.4.doc (83 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Version 1.4 - This is an MS Word document containing the full rule set of Shipyard but in a condensed format (4 pages total) and re-organized in several ways.

Latest Updates: Somehow the '6 deniers to start with' rule went missing. I also cleaned up some grammar and rules details.

shipyard_-_rules_condensed_v1.3b.doc (81 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Version 1.3b
This is an MS Word document containing the full rule set of Shipyard but in a condensed format (4 pages total) and re-organized in several ways including:

* Re-organized setup rules.
* Separation of 2-player rules into one section.
* Alternative Turn Summary.
* Simplified Turn Action Details.
* End of Game described in a cleaner manner.
* Grouped similar types of actions together.

p.1 - Intro, Setup and Turn Actions Summary
p.2 - Government Contracts and the Countdown, Two-player rules, and Purchase Type Actions
p.3 - Purchase Actions (cont), Rondel Type Actions, Other Actions, and Shakedown Cruise
p.4 - Shakedown Cruise (cont), Scoring and End of Game

This file does NOT contain details about the Employee tiles or Government Contracts, just the main rules of the game.

It is suggested to print out and laminate to make 2 front-and-back sheets.

Updates included:
(Version 1.3b) Corrected Vladimir's name (sorry Vladimir!), changed from green backed to dk brown/lt brown on Hire Employee tiles, info on Contract balance issue, simplified list for canal bonuses, plus various minor updates and corrections.
(Version 1.2) Additional updates/corrections per suggestions from Russ Williams.
(Version 1.1) Updated condensed rules with corrections/clarifications from Jennifer Schlickbernd and David L.

This has a number of inaccuracies that contradict the rules.

Thanks for posting this-it's handy. The one thing I've noticed so far is that I can't find any reference to the 6 guilders each player gets to start the game.

Hi David. Glad you like it. I'll have to check why I missed that. There are a couple of other fixes/clarifications I need to put in as well thanks to my conversation with Jennifer this weekend. I will do that in the next day or two and get it uploaded.

Jennifer: BTW, was very nice meeting you and playing shipyards this weekend @ EGG!

This looks like it could be very useful. I will just insert a comment here in order to get subscribed so that I can find out when it is updated since it has been a month since the next day or two and now I am just rambling on and on without stopping like I should.

Thanks for the summary. Some corrections and suggestions:

Quote:
a.If you performed the BUILD SHIPS action, launch any completed ships at action end.

That should be at turn end. (I.e. your summary now says you launch ships immediately after the BUILD SHIPS actions, but in fact you might do a bonus action after the build ships, and only after THAT should you launch ships.)

Quote:
blank spaces (i.e. with no action tiles on them)

I think you could simplify all that to just 2 words: "empty spaces", which seems pretty self-explanatory.

Quote:
NOTE: The first player won’t collect any income on their first turn (there won’t be any figures ahead)

Is that really necessary in a summary? It's redundant, since it's implied by the previous income rule (that you get 1 guilder per occupied tile ahead of you), in any case.

Quote:
the space BELOW the clock tower

"the space before the gray corner" would be a lot clearer, I suspect. I honestly don't even remember seeing a clock tower, and it seems in the forum people talk more about the gray space.

Quote:
Middle two rows have a cost or 1 guilder.

Typo: "cost of 1 guilder."

Quote:
1 point per crew member (not the captain)

Error: The rules say "For each Crew Member (including your captain) you score 1 point."

Quote:
If you cross the same type of symbol more than once, score the points EACH time you cross it.

Error: not true for the blue ribands.

Also: you use "worker" instead of "employee" a few times. Better to use the one term "employee" from the rules consistently.

wow, where you when I was editing my file over the past couple of days?

Thanks for the additional corrections and suggestions. Note that this isn't really a 'summary' so much as a 'condensed' version which means there is some detail but trying to consolidate it down a bit...one just can't leave out some of the detail as there are so many little rules in this game that are easy to overlook.

I'll hopefully get another one up in less time than the last set of corrections.

Ok, I just uploaded more corrections and they should probably be approved soon. Hopefully I got them all this time. Special THANKS goes to Jennifer for her corrections when we met @ EGG and thanks to Russ for so thoroughly going through my file. A for each of you!

Author's first name is spelled incorrectly (should be "Vladimir" instead of "Valdimir")
