Key to the Kingdom Advanced Rules.doc (29 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Advanced Rules - this variant allows you to select from six character classes, implements a simple combat system, and gives powers to the treasures.
You need to make up some character cards to keep track of health points. I made up some of my own which look pretty nice. I can share them if you're interested.

Sorry about that. I corrected some typos and added a clarification.
The file was gone for a few minutes during that time.
It's back now, though.
Let me know what you think!

I played this with the kids this weekend and we had a blast! It went on for about 2 hours, and I was the first one out - caught in the Bone Pit, I lost my last remaining health point.

The youngest, my 7 year-old daughter actually won, she played as the fighter and ended up with every treasure. (Everytime someone got a treasure she tracked them down and stole it.)

This is the second time we've played with these rules and I think they work pretty well. The only thing that came up was the original rules state that you can visit the Wizard of Plenty only once per game. Since I implemented the combat system, though, it is now possible to die in the game. So I ruled that you can visit the wizard as often as you like.

Your rules are great. I'm actually working on some advanced rules of my own, based off of them. I will post them on Boardgamegeek when I'm finished, and after my friends and I have playtested them a little. (I'll give you credit of course, since I'll be using parts of your writing)

Sounds great! To give credit where it's due, I based my own rules partly on some of Colin Schrader's ideas.
I'm looking forward to checking out your variant!
