Runewars_Corey_K_Answers_v11.pdf (295 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
Version 11, contains quite a few new rulings, including some from the new expansion. Also contains a couple ruling changes, such as playing 2 Pillage Cards and duel quests where the hero dies at the same time as the opponent. (The questions where the answer is red but the question is not are new rulings).

A few more updates:
- Cards that do not specifically allow you to play them during combat, may not be played during combat (including Spread Dissent and Brilliant Maneuver)
- Clarifications on the Temple token's wording and when it triggers
- Clarification that neutral units are still allied if in Strongholds/home realms with no friendly units.
- Clarification to Warlock ability when facing 1 standing triangle & 1 routed rectangle.

Runewars_Corey_K_Answers_v7_5.pdf (269 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
Minor update to clarify an apparent contradiction between two rulings (bringing them in synch with each other based on the more recent ruling).

This change is in red text. Future updates will also have the text in red to make it easier to tell what is different.

Runewars_Corey_K_Answers_v4.pdf (232 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
Added a few more rulings from Corey, and updated a previous ruling that was reversed (mobilizing/conquering into an "empty" enemy area IS considered a battle).

Also, all Hero, Unit, and Card Names have been emphasized for easier scanning. The various sections have been reorganized so that general questions are first, then questions regarding specific cards/units are listed next, with the cards being listed in alphabetical order.

Runewars_Corey_K_Answers.pdf (24 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
This is a compilation of various rules questions and rulings from Corey K., often asked via email or on the forums. This document contains rulings that aren't in the official FAQ.

As more questions are answered, or if the FAQ answers some of these, this document will be revised.

Please email me if I have missed any important questions that have been ruled on by Corey.

Thanks for compiling these Scott!

Some of the answers don't make sense to me, but hey, he made the game! Like activating an empty enemy home area with a Mobilize Order is classified as a battle. I guess it gives the defender some defense by forcing the invader to use up a mobilize/conquer order. I think you should be able to take over 2 empty areas with a mobilize even if they are home areas.

From a rules-mechanic perspective, though, home areas are never "empty".

I think the ruling is there for consistency sake; whenever you activate an enemy controlled area, it starts a battle

But again, I'm not sure if that's his rationale, but I do like the consistency of it all.

Yeah, I guess that's the part I don't understand. I guess there are partisan militia who will defend the home realm even if there are no armies or command structure to organize the defense. They just cause enough trouble to the invaders to force them to do a battle by suppressing the population.

This leads me to another question.(Not sure if I should start a new thread) In a game we played last night, another player used the reward card "Rune of Summoning" to bring in an army into my 'empty' (no units or strongholds) home area and win the game by capturing his 6th Dragon Rune. This would not have been allowed since home areas are never empty and the card says "If in an empty area during your turn" So, now I can go back to him and say his victory was flawed?? devil

I think a lot of it is so that you don't have to leave units in your home realm for them to be "yours".

Yup, Home Areas are not empty, so you cannot use the Rune of Summoning that way (probably another reason why it's not considered empty for gameplay purposes).

OK, from pg 15 of the rulebook "Empty Area: Any non-home realm area that contains zero units and zero strongholds. An area containing units (even neutral units) is not empty, although an empty area may contain a city token."

Bold added...
