Mechanically, is this the same game as Modern Art with these rules? Thanks.

Yes. It was basically designed because I was too cheap to buy both Modern Art and Modern Art:tCG, and felt one game could do basic service to both.

The only main difference in the rules is to take account of the cards without symbols.

I purchased Master's Gallery over Modern Art today largely due to the upgrade posted here. I really enjoy the impressionist paintings included in Master's Gallery over those in Modern Art, but wanted to have the option to maintain the bidding aspect of the game.

Thanks a bunch Ben!

Does anyone have a copy of the rules to Modern Art the Card Game? PDF or Word or even a text file would be very helpful. I have looked and looked and cannot seem to find them anywhere. Thank you.

I think Steve wanted MA:tCG rules, not the original auction game.

They do seem hard to track down on the Internet. I will try to upload a copy this weekend.

Ben and MC,

Ben, thank you when you have time as this is what I was looking for. I would really appreciate it!

MC - thank you too for the quick response and attempt to get the rules for me, but as Ben mentioned, I did mean to the game MA:tcg.

Steve

Steve - have you read Ender's Pictorial Review?

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/404682/a-comprehensive-picto...

That is actually an entire summary of the rules, as far as I can tell.

Hi Ben, I played your version last weekend, is far better than the vanilla one. A couple of things about the file:
You say "English auction", but I don't know what it means. We played as a Power Grid auction.
In the Open auction you say "If the auctioneer wins, he pays the bank". I'm sure that the same thing applies to all the auctions, but is not written.
You say "Players then sell their paintings back to the bank for the value of the marker(s) on them.". But if there are no markers in the painting, you simply discards the cards, right?
Thanks !

A new doubt that happened in yesterday game. What happens if there are 3 paintings of a given color and somebody plays a card with the double auction symbol? As there is the fifth painting of the same color the round ends without auction?

Yes, that's correct. Same as the rules for standard Modern Art.

Ben,

I know it's been a long time since I wrote. I actually bought the game and have enjoyed it - the review you referred to was a selling point. Thank you very much.

At the risk of sounding extremely immodest...

Having played quite a bit of the original Modern Art, I'm actually tending towards the opinion that my version is even better.
