LIONHART_custom_rules_only.pdf (137 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
These are the expanded rules, made all nice-looking, that my wife and I have been using since the game came out. A bit of spice for a generally pleasant game.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting. Some of these are extremely sensible. I thought playing Lionheart with my tom-buy daughter would teach her some wargame-y concepts, but the rules as written are fairly weak for that. Advancing after combat, and bonuses for attacking the rear, are exactly the sort of rules this game needs!

Very glad to hear it! We've had some fun over the years using these rules as we thought the game was a bit light as well. One other rule we use is the 2-PANIC minimum. This makes it impossible for a single unit to make a full base Panic and retreat. Their retreat rules in general are reversed. This helps.

Enjoy,

So i just started playing this game, and was very disappointed as i found it far too simple, and was a bit upset by a volley of arrows shot at me on the first move....

Therefore I proposed the following, and have been happy every since. In fact i find this game may be as challenging as chess.

Rules as follows:

1. You cannot attack an enemy face on no matter the strength of the army (you must flank your enemy)

2. Archers can only shoot 4 spaces in front of them, and cannot shoot arrows over an opponents army that is directly in the space in front of the archers.

3. Horses can only move up to 4 spaces.

And that is it, all other rules of the game apply... hope you enjoy as much as i do.
