Arimaa-ChineseZodiac-blackpieces.pdf (5.48 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
After trying to play a game, I realized that the reverse white/red looks nice on screen, but I really need a second set of colors to work with. This is the same set of pieces as before but with black instead of red. The board is not included in this PDF file.

Arimaa-ChineseZodiacSet.pdf (5.84 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
I rethemed Arimaa for animals in the Chinese Zodiac. The pieces are 1.25" square, and the board is formatted to print on 2 8.5"X14" (legal) sheets. Only 6 animals are required to make Arimaa and I chose Dragon, Snake, Ox, Lamb, Pig, Rabbit, however I have included the other 6 animals in the Zodiac if you want to make your own set. The base images were part of a stamp collection that is for sale on www.artisticchinesecreations.com. I have no affiliation (nor previous experience) with this website other than receiving permission to post these images to BGG (though I do thank them for their quick response).

Please note that I had uploaded a "cheat sheet" to Arimaa that had the piece order (that I prefer). Of course it didn't align with the offical animal designations so I revised it in a later upload. But check out the older "cheat sheet" (april 19, 2010) if you want a copy with the zodiac animal ordering.

And btw here's the direct link to the set of stamps for sale.

Why not combine the two color sets. One side red and white, the other side black and white, Much like Chinese army chess. Throw a dash of green in here or there on both sides. Possibly use the 'border' of the pieces to create an alternateing checked board and use green there and not on the pices resulting in an entire work.

one side red & white
one side Black & white
Board with alternateing checks of green 'bordered' squares.
Board with solid color (or design) 'Trap' Squares.

Even though its just color scheme change I like your designs and Feel that with the above suggestions it would have more 'neato' factor.

Thanks so much for the compliment! I'll think about digging up the old files and tweaking them!
