Saboteur Scores Season 1 (BGG).xls (72 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
A spreadsheet designed to record the various statistics and scores for a Saboteur league.
Currently listed are anonymous scores from my own legaue played during lunchtime at work. It is interesting to note the changes in play over time when rivalries develop and leaders are bashed. We have also found it good fun so far. Whether many more seasons will be played is yet to be determined but we've certainly got our money's worth so far.
We play with the variants listed in the final sheet plus 'greedy dwarves'. We started out playing without discussion of map cards and viewing cards but developed numerous tells and rule bending to allow communication as much as possible.

Excellent stuff... If we had a few more regular players it would be fun to try this at lunchtime too.

I'm curious about your variant rules that change according to number of players. How did they come about? And do you always have a guaranteed fixed number of good/saboteurs (looks like it from the table)?

The variant rules are drawn from the variants forum of Saboteur. We play with set numbers of Sabs and Dwarves because they are fairly balanced at each player number once 'gold awarded' is adjusted. If not for that the game is usually unbalanced in one way or another depending on that one card deal. I didn't like this idea and was pleased with the variant. For some reason I can't now find the thread listing these variants.
We tended to play without communicating specifics about our cards etc. We found this to work reasonably well at first but slowly hints and cheats were found and we just developed our own unspoken boundaries that were gently pushed game by game. I think if we're going to have another league we'll allow 'honest' table talk. We only enjoy the game with 5, 6 or 7 players, simply because it become imbalanced with other numbers. I think we've burnt out on this for the short term and may have to have a 6-month break before the next league. I'm considering Die Kutschfahrt zur Teufelsburg as an alternative with a similar feel.
