Flipbook-1.3ads4.pdf (2.62 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Rules for RAF: Lion, broken down into a series of steps to follow. Charts and details are provided directly at the step where they are needed and are duplicated where necessary, so you won't need to flip through the rules or chart sheets to find the information you need. It should be possible to play RAF: Lion without referring to the rules or tables. This flipbook includes the Advanced and Optional rules, marked as such.

This is based on the excellent Excel version by Erin Sparks (rockhpi) at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/45326/raf-lion-flipboo... . This is the original work of rockhpi and Alan De Smet, based on material under copyright and is published with the permission of Christopher Cummins of Decision Games.

Changes from Changes from 1.3ads3: Fixed error in Combat Results Table (CRT). Added lines to CRT. Standardized names of cards/decks to match labels on the decks. Add British Stabilization Scheme. Reduced VP loss applies to Forward Airfields, not Industry. Fix to Hunter Attack combat results table. Minor edits.

Getting an error when opening the file. Something about "Invalid Color space".

its a weird and varying error..
variously occcurs depending on which version of reader you're using, what was in the source file and what was used to convert it.

especially what kind of PDF fle was exported.
the original submitter might re-up a PDF which isnt PDF/A

Edit:
I converted the above PDF to Postscript and converted it to a slightly earlier PDF1.3 format..
it now opens fine without the colorspace error (I'm using Adobe Reader 9 on X64 Linux).

My apologies. I was bit by this OpenOffice bug and I never thought to check Adobe Reader. (It works fine in the PDF viewer I normally use.) I've re-created the PDF in a way that should avoid the problem and confirmed that it opens in Adobe Reader. It's uploaded for administrator review and should be up soon.

Thanks, Bob, for stepping up so quickly to help!

Heh, I just realized that the "ads" variant might imply that I added advertising, which would be profoundly douchey of me. "ads variant" means "The variant prepared by ADS, or Alan De Smet." There is no advertising inside.

While funny is that proper grammatical usage of a douche?

Seriously, very nice work putting this together.

Love the flipbook; just finished my first game of Lion using it. Are you planning on doing a similar one for Eagle?

Thanks for posting this, very useful.

One query though, looking at Page 12, the last line under Industry -

" Advanced: Treat H as 2 points for VP and Damage for Primary Target only."

Shouldn't this (only) apply to forward airfields?

That's what I think on reading the advanced rules.

Also there are a number of errors in the combat damage charts to be aware of as below with the omissions or errors in red.

I am basing this on the tables as shown HERE as I do not own the game (yet!) and these work with the example in the rules page 13, 10.2:Combat Damage whereas the tables in this file do not.

Units in Hunt Box:

LINE REMOVED HERE FROM ORIGINAL POST (see edit below)
Full Squadron/D/To BB REDUCED or IF FULL
ReducedSquadron/-/To BB OR IF (NOT REDUCED)

Units in Close Escort Box:

Reduced Gruppe/-/To IF (NOT REDUCED)
Reduced Gruppe/LL/To LL (+1vp) FULL
Reduced Gruppe/HL/To HL (+2vp) FULL

Units in Bomber Box:

Reduced Gruppe/LL/To LL (+1vp) FULL
Reduced Gruppe/HL/To HL (+2vp) FULL
Reduced Squadron/-/To IF (NOT REDUCED)
Reduced Squadron/LL/To LL (-1vp) FULL
Reduced Squadron/HL/To HL (-2vp) FULL

Thanks for posting this as it helped me play with vassal and decide to purchase this game.
Also there are no Night Raid tables in the night raid sections which would be nice

Tally Ho Chaps!!!

EDIT
I have removed this line as it was an incorrect correction blush
Reduced Gruppe/A/To LL (+1vp) NOT FULL

Thanks for the feedback. I'm incorporating some of the suggested changes. Some I double checked against the official sheet and my version is correct. I did leave out the "FULL" markings for units going to the Heavy or Light Loss boxes as it's redundant with the instruction to restore units to full when they leave the Light Loss box. A new version should be up soonish.

Great work -- minor corrections needed

In comparing the info of your updated chart to the other flip charts -- it looks like some wording had been cut off on pg 4 of the raid 1 area. maybe the graphic cut it off. Note the "raid P" and "i reveal top card" do not make sense.

Thanks again and keep up the strong work
