Nuns on the Run LOS_v1.2.zip (7.95 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Contains four pdf maps showing an actual graphical representation of the LOS (line of sight) rules for Nuns on the Run; works for all languages.

**This .zip contains the original files, plus corrected versions of space 13, 33 and 85's LOS (in the Inner and Outer Gardens file).**

Please let me know if you find any more errors, and feel free to give a 'thumb' if you find this aid helpful.

This .zip file contains four pdf maps showing an actual graphical representation of the LOS (line of sight) rules for Nuns on the Run. They use the reference map posted by Freric Moyersoen as source material, and has been corrected for two known errata (35 to 84 and 78 to 134).

The four maps are the 'problematic' areas of the monastery: the Chapel, the Cloister, the Inner and Outer Gardens, and the Outside Path.

Simply open the pdf for the area of interest, then go to the correct page for the space you wish to see the LOS for. The current numbered space is shown in red, while the visible range is shown in a transparent blue overlay.

It's a wee bit on the large side but each .pdf contains a separate page showing the LOS for each space; generally 25 spaces in the larger areas, for a total of 82 pages in all.

I found that these are generally high enough quality that if you print them in colour with 'Page Scaling' set to multiple pages per sheet (4 or even 6 per page) they are still quite visible.

Or you can simply keep them on your computer as a quick reference for LOS guidelines.

[color=purple]I think I found a mistake. You can't see 33 when standing on 12, but you can see 12 when standing on 33.

You are absolutely correct, I forgot to shave off a triangular wedge including 12-15,34.

There may be more mistakes like that (but I hope not), it was definitely a tedious process and tough keeping track of what was what. Just let me know and I'll try to correct and repost as quick as I can.

EDIT: I have uploaded a corrected version zip, just waiting for approval. I may try to upload the individual files here as well as a zip, in case there are further corrections; that would save people from having to download the full zip again perhaps.

I think the Gardens file was my last photoshop, seems like it suffered at the end. Working on a fixed space 13, as well as space 85 (which shouldn't see 51 and 52). Next zip being uploaded soon, keep the errors coming.

I found that Adobe X (10.1.2) can't handle both scaling and multiple pages at the same time. It prints at "actual size" (ie small) rather than blowing the image up to fill 1/4 of the page. To get round this, I printed each page 'to fit', as if each one would fill an A4 sheet, but then selected multiple pages in the printer properties. I've got a Canon iP4300.

Here's a comparison of the sizes and readability for different numbers of images per page:

per sheets size ease of reading red & blue numbers
----------------------------------------------------------------
1/16 4 5.8x4.3 hard very hard
1/9 7 7.8x5.8 bit easier hard
1/6 10 8.3x6.2 slightly easier than 1/9 hard
1/4 13 11.7x8.8 easy easier but not easy

"sheets" is the number of A4 sheets you need to print all 4 LOS pdfs if printing double sided (but not being clever and trying to stitch them together, so there's some blank pages).

I decided to go with 1/9 as there's not a lot of difference between 1/9 and 1/6, each 25 page pdf divides better and it keeps down the thickness of the printout.

(PS if you want 1/6, select 'landscape' not 'auto' or they'll come out sideways)

EDIT: Of course, A4 doesn't fit in the box
