A couple of design things.

1) This is the second draft (v1.1) of the rules so there may still be some typos and stuff that will need to be cleaned up and some more playtesting that needs to get done. If anyone, and I mean anyone, has any input on how to improve the rules, I'm always willing to hear feedback.

2) One of the cities offers the heroes a chance to buy a Lizard Mount ally. Cards for this ally can be found here:
www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/60079/lizard-mount-ally-cards

If anyone has any questions, or is confused about any rule, please ask, and I will do my best to answer.

Cheers,

Judd

Looks pretty good and standard except for typos, but I don't know Zanaga so I might miss things others wouldn't. I was wondering if the art came from a stock pack of game clip art (?) that Paizo offers.

Yeah, the typos are annoying as a person never spots them until AFTER you post your work online. That said, I've been getting a lot of emails about how these rules were coming along, so I wanted to get something posted for those who were anxious to give them a try. Plus, I figured the more people to read them over and play with them during the play testing... the better the finished work would be. And given the extra rule complexity of the Rituals in Zanaga, and how the city spaces interact with them, there could be some issues I'm not spotting that someone with "fresh eyes" might see right away.

I'm also working on a "Screaming Jungle" variant which introduces some weather and jungle events to the game. These rules often cause heroes and allies to take extra fatigue, so you'll note that I've tried to balance this out by having many of the cities provide free healing of fatigue.

The artwork comes from the daily blog postings on Paizo and Wizards websites, and which is used heavily on many other fan sites on the net.

Well... yikes... I have heard stuff about Zanaga and rituals but had no idea things could involve the cities as well. As to weather, me and mine have been bouncing around some ideas therein for the core game involving a weather die (purchased or homemade) that gets rolled with the movement die. Still not settled on its exact effects as cross referenced with different terrain types, number of movement dice rolled, etc.

Just so people know, I have submitted an edited and revised version of the rules to bgg, which should hopefully post shortly. It cleans up the typos, and also amends many of the city events as well. One of the biggest changes includes the use of specific skills (swim, resist, lore, spot) for the listed attribute tests, which will make these tests a little easier for those characters with the specified skill. Plus, it actually allows the characters to use their skills which are drastically underused in most cases. I've also submitted the rules for "The Screaming Jungle" variant which is intended to be used with the Cities of Adventure Variant for Mists.

Excellent! I've always thought skills were underplayed in the game.
