World at War: Worlds at War.

What if H.G. Wells' invasion of Earth by Mars happened in 1985 instead of 1898?

"No one would have believed in the last years of the twentieth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own...Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us."

See how the mightiest Earth armies of the 20th century fare against Martian Tripods, black smoke, heat-rays and plodding Martian infantry. Protect Earth's civilians against the ruthless invaders. In time for the anniversary of Orson Welles' greatest hoax... THE WAR OF THE WORLDS!

This sheet 1.1 supercedes version 1.0, modifying Martian tripod armour and removing accidentally-added armour from the Martian infantry.

Sorry folks, I mistakenly hit "print all pages" instead of "print page 1" when I created the PDF, so there's a lot of unnecessary junk in that PDF.

I will upload a revised version as soon as I can.

Yup, have a few in mind. I'll post them in this thread (see below) as I finish them.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/579810/halloween-fun-

Also a few special rules for heat rays, tripod height & close assault, black smoke & trains.

As promised, I did something with Chris's tripods. Running civilians, gunning T-80s, and rampaging tripods...pretty cool chaos table that includes Martian infantry and orbital strikes. Use the rules Chris has posted with the exception of SSR Black Cloud and SSR Bridges. I can't guarantee balance, but I'll adjust as suggested by you guys.

Download the scenario here (there are three pages): http://www.locknloadgame.com/waw/2.save.a.life.zip

You'll need TUS to play.

Gamed this scenario this weekend what a blast... Any chance at making this a game series. Granted you have a lot on your plate probably but this would make a excellent edition to your game company. And kudos to you Chirstopher for doing this me and my game group had a blast

Hello Gordon,

I'm very pleased that you had a chance to play. I must say I'm thankful to Mark for taking the time to come up with a scenario. I'm still hoping to put in some time to design a few more involving the Martians, but it's tricky.

So, tell us, who won, and what were the details? Did any tripods actually get taken down?

I played the Martians and won,i lost 2 tripods to those pesky human russians. We plan on having a go at it again this time against the West Germans. Leopards and Tripods 0 my. And plan on keeping a detailed blow by blow for a AAR.
