Zombie Plague rules.doc (1.28 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
I have completely rewritten the Zombie Plague rulebook. I have left nearly all the original rules unchanged, but I've tried to edit them into a more organized format, I've written the "frequently asked questions" into the rules so that there is no longer a list of FAQs at the end, I've created simple zombie AI rules so that the game can be played solo or strictly cooperatively without a zombie player if desired, I've incorporated all special rules for the 3 expansion boards (the CITY, the CHURCH, and the ISLAND), I've included the "Flares" item rules, I've included the additional ways to win (such as with the "Cellar"), and I've added a few game variants at the end. PLEASE NOTE: The cover page states that the game is for 2-6 players, but my rewritten rules are now for 1-5 players. Also, the components list is for the specific components I've chosen to include in my game, so yours will obviously be slightly different. This is an 11-page Microsoft Word document. [EDIT: It was brought to my attention that the previous version of the rulebook contained copyrighted images on the cover page which were then carried over into my version, so version 2 of my rules is unchanged with the exception of a newly-designed cover page.]

Please, when you take art from another game, at least ask us permission... I'm a great fan of zombie games and I don't want to bother guys like you but the original artist deserve credits for his work.

CROC

I didn't take art from anywhere. I simply rewrote the last version of the rulebook, which was submitted in 2007:

Croc is right, the 3 images on the cover of Kwanchai's rulebook are from Mall of Horror:

I realized that when I made the french translation of Zombie Plague.

Of course you couldn't know it, except if you've already played MoH...
What you should do is just change the cover (ensure the new image has no copyright ) and upload a new version of the rulebook, or ask permission to Asmodée to use MoH's art.

Squash,

You made copyrighted artwork available for download. The fact that it is available 'til 2007 doesn't make it more legal. And the fact that someone else did it before doesn't make it more legal either.

A word of advice for you CROC: instead of making vague accusations and veiled threats, grow some balls, tell me simply and clearly, gamer to gamer, what exactly the problem is (as Roolz so kindly took the time to do for me), and tell me what you would like me to do about it.

Until Roolz explained the situation, I had no idea what you were talking about. But now that he has, and I understand what's going on, I will follow the advice of Roolz (since you have failed to offer any) and create my own cover page for the rules, and upload the new version without the other artwork when that is finished.

Great !

You stole art from a great artist and you ask me to grow some balls ?

I think that the surgery worked for me. What about your brain ?

Clearly you are either uninterested or incapable of having a rational conversation (I didn't steal anything from anybody - I rewrote an existing rulebook), so before I cease to contribute any more to this pointless conversation, is there anything you wish me to do other than remove the artwork from the cover page?

New cover page created (albeit low quality, due to my complete lack of computer image manipulation skills); new rulebook file submitted and awaiting approval by mods.

WTF? That was the dumbest post I've seen on BGG in a long time. Did you even bother to read his explanation saying he didn't know the artwork wasn't from another game?

Hi squash,

As far as I know, calling people names is neither civil nor clever.
Especially:
- when you're infringing on copyright, even unknowingly.
- when the guy who warns you has been very polite (until...).
- when this guys's works for the concerned game publisher, and is one of the more active and helpful game designers here on BGG.
The fact that you display a "peace" MB is just the icing on the cake.
Though if your goal is to get banned from BGG, it all makes sense somehow.

Otherwise, good rules rewrite, the automatic zombies rule is nice.

Thanks!

At this point, there should be nothing further that needs to be added to the discussion from anyone since a) it doesn't look like I'm likely to receive an apology from CROC; b) the new file with the altered artwork has been available since December 8th; and c) the old file with the previous artwork has been deleted since December 8th.

I put many, many hours of work into this rules rewrite, and my hope is simply that people will enjoy some zombie bashing fun! Cheers, and happy gaming!!
