1856 Player Aid v1.1.pdf (158 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
My very first player aid (!) made to include all commonly referenced rules for 1856 as well as relevant information for new players. This player aid is meant to be printed doubled sided so everything can be included on only a single page.

Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated since this is my first attempt at a player aid.

It looks good and very succinct. I don't understand this statement under the certificates limits table:

The number of companies equals all remaining companies including the CGR and those not started

We've always played that the certificate limit was based on the number of currently operating companies (including CGR if it opened). By this, only closed companies are removed from this #?

This very subject is discussed in the rule book under the "Canadian Government Railway" section. One of the sub-sections is "certificate limit adjustment" and it states the following:

Quote:
After the CGR has formed... adjust the certificate limit, counting the number of surviving companies (including the CGR) and the number of unstarted companies.

So, although my wording could have been more explicit (surviving vs remaining), the basic premise is correct. Playing with your method would make it very difficult to start any of the remaining companies since most players likely wouldn't be able to buy enough shares. I would assume that this makes for a more static end game since no new companies can form?

Hope this helps and thanks for the input!
