junta helper v1.1.pdf (132 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
v1.1 - Fixed several typos and minor rule errors.

The Junta 3rd ed. English Rules are not organized very well in my opinion. This is my attempt to rewrite the rules, streamlining and organizing them into one sheet. This pdf could be used to better teach new players the game and for referencing purposes during the game. This is more or less the complete rules, minus where the units go at the beginning of a coup or detailed explanations of cards.

Card draws - cards can be passed to others to reduce player down to 6 cards, IIRC. Not mentioned in your summary, though.

Great and detailed summary!

I just have a couple of comments:

You should write somewhere that players can freely trade or give away money or cards, unless some of those players are targeted for assassination.

You might want to note in the "You may give units to another player at this time." that this cannot cause one unit to move twice in the same coup round.

During retreat, you need permissions from ALL players in that area. (Oh, well, then I saw this was addressed in 1.1.)

(Also, you miss periods in §5, second bullet, Roll Call Votes, first to bullets, and Prez's Cousin, second bullet. I wouldn't normally comment on this, but you had such great and consistent formatting else, that I just had to point it out )

This is brilliant and overdue.
Card exchanges (see comments above) and Under coup phases I started to make notes on errors and then realised you'd covered it SO My suggestion is to reorder so that the bullet point 'During the Coup phase' is after the one called 'Special rebel phase'.

Thanks for comments and keep 'em coming. Unless someone finds a huge mistake I'll upload another new version in a couple weeks, when all the minor things have been figured out.

BTW there are a couple places where I purposely fudged the rules:

For the budget, El Presidente does not put the cards in his hand. However, the rules are basically identical to this fact (since you can keep some for yourself or add cards from your hand for it) and it was a lot simpler to explain my way. Here's the one exception that I know of: The card "alternate budget" allows a player other than El Prez to propose a budget, and the prez must give all but one of the cards to them. In this way you'd have to know of at least 7 of the cards you picked up.

Another arguable difference is starting the coup. I didn't give the details about moving a piece or putting one on the board as starting a coup because IMO it's not worth the trouble of all the words it takes to explain it clearly.

EDIT: A third spot: I didn't bother with nominations 1st round/2nd round stuff for roll call votes.

Thanks Joseph. This is great! I printed out 6 to give to new players when I attempt to teach this game this weekend.
