WTID Game Record v2.xls (189 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Updated: now version 2.

An excel 2003 spreadsheet I created to track the statistics, events, and outcome of my campaign in the Falklands.

The "Summary Sheets" worksheet is designed to record your campaign assessment. It contains a lot of drop down menus to make things convenient. You can print and enter your results with a pen, or enter information into the worksheet and print if you like. The document is protected without a password, and only the cells needing input may be selected.

The "Game Turn Records" sheet contains a log to record the events and information generated each turn. It's useful if you want to do an AAR, check back to ensure you're playing the game correctly, or are just obsessed with recording your experience like I am. The entire document is protected without a password. I designed this to be printed and used at the game table as you play.

The "Data" sheet contains info used in the "Summary Sheets" worksheet and is protected without a password.

I also used the Neuropol font and 1942 Report font in this spreadsheet. Neuropol is the iconic font used in the title logo of WTID. You may want to download both; I found them free at dafont.com. If you don't use them, the spreadsheet may not look as intended.

If you can think of any ways to improve this or if you find an error, please let me know so I can fix this!

Update Version 2. I fixed some formula errors in the "Game Summary" worksheet. Those should all work correctly now. I also added a box to record the number of support ships lost, as this affects your campaign assessment. I fixed some formatting inconsistencies in the "Game Turn Records" worksheet so it looks better.

Would you say that this is sufficient to restore a game state if you had to pack it up after a completed day? It looks like it is, but I wanted to be sure.

If it can work like that, it would allow me to get the game out more often.

Yes, as long as you make sure to actually note all the pertinent information down. There are placed to note the following information down for each game turn:

International & Domestic Opinion
1Exocet supply
2San Carlos ground supply
3Current on board events
4TF ship locations
5Argentine naval unit locations
6Current sit rep

The other things I know you'd want to note that are not on the daily record are:

1The status of each of your harriers
2Unique, temporary effects of certain event cards on your units
3The location of your ground units and Argentine ground units if you're fighting for San Carlos
4The transport ships your ground units are located on.

If you use the summary sheets tab, you should have already noted down the ships your ground units are assigned to.

Hope that helps.
