Print-and-Play Guide to Assembly

But little Mouse, you are not alone,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
Go often askew,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!

-- "To a Mouse..." by Robert Burns, 1785

You are the leader of a tribe of mice, newly arrived on the vast farmlands and fields of the New World. Your task is to establish a thriving colony, and survive the unknown perils as you build your colony for the future.

However, yours is not the only tribe. In the distance, you can see signs of another colony of mice, eking out their own scrap of land. Would you help them, or leave them to their own devices?

Of course, the Tribes of Men are also here. And they will definitely seek your destruction.

Game Overview
In this solitaire game, the player takes the role as the tribal leader of the Southern Tribe of mice. Nearby is another tribe -- the Northern Tribe of mice -- but they are falling apart and barely subsisting on the land. However, the reality is that the two tribes will share the same fate, whether they like it or not. And as the leader of the stronger tribe, the player must make decisions that will hopefully lead to the survival of both tribes (also called "The Colony") through the events of the scenario: the Winter of 1584.

The player starts with control over a small crew of his most loyal mousey subjects, but will rapidly build up a workforce that will enable him to face the challenges ahead. During each round (also called a "week"), at least one event card will be drawn, which will describe the immediate threats that the Colony is facing. These threats will grow as time passes, and will even physically manifest themselves to attack the tribes.

The player wins the game if the Colony has not failed after enduring through all the events played in the scenario.

Components
The game includes:
-- the game board;
-- a set of 24 Tribesmen Cards;
-- 6 Event Cards, and a scenario setup card;
-- 24 Mobile Threat Cards;
-- 24 Effort Cards.
-- Extra Cards for the Optional Variants
You will also need poker chips, or some type of counters of 2 colors: preferably, 50 White and 50 Red.

Other Releases
Included in other releases will be additional scenarios, additional tribesmen, as well as rules to describe how to play the game with more than just one player.

Major re-write and a somewhat altered design. The files for this are labeled "Feb28"; but they have a footer marked "March 1".
