Branches Twigs Thorns.pdf (211 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
I wanted copies of various Icehouse games in a clean, fairly consistent format and in pdf to put in a binder. Want the rest of the games from the binder? See the geeklist!

Cool, I've been wanting to make single sheet rules for various pyramid games to put in a notebook. Thanks for being less lazy than I've been about it.

One minor note: playing this game 3-player doesn't actually require Martian chessboard pieces: you can also simply use 6x8 squares of a chessboard.

Pshah. While true, it's not half as fun. The equal expansion of the board also feels more balanced. Besides, who doesn't want to play a game on a three-cornered, three-sided chess board? Incidentally, I think that there's a rule missing where if someone puts the root in a stinkin' corner in a 3+ player game then the other players (particularly those who are now going to be paying penalties on their first turn) get to beat them senseless.

Happy to be less lazy. Heck, I'd been thinking about doing this for a long time myself. (Read: years.) Man, am I glad I finally got around to it, though. Hopefully it inspires other folks (for instance, Polish gamers who are slightly lazier than me) to do the same.

Hmm, that does not compute... At least I don't see a way to force the 3rd player to pay on their first turn.

Especially since the last player in turn sequence places a root, so of course they can place it with all 4 sides clear. If the last player chooses to screw the last player, will the last player beat the last player senseless? That could be entertaining to watch, in a Fight Club kind of way...

Hmm. You're right. Forgot that. Well, in a 4+ player game the occasion could still arise, in which case P3 might reasonably determine that P4 has self-destructive tendencies and no disregard for others.

...although I DO like the Fight Club idea. Perhaps someone who causes themselves penalties in the first turn should be called Tyler for the game.
