Contains homemade counters for multiple variants listed on BGG, Consim and grognard. Feedback asked for and encouraged!!! Please give feedback as appropriate!
Due to feedback - some changes are in the works and will be posted soon... Counter image changes to date dealing with 3 and 4 star generals are:
These changes made the re roll factor smaller than the other values.
These changes dealt with the counter backs and changing the size of various pieces of the counters. Ignore the McClellan counter shown in this group of images.
Thinking about making the difference between Infantry, Cavalry and Naval Leaders more pronounced. Like these:
Some of these changes were discussed in this thread:
Also thinking of "reversing" the color pattern - though in my practice - white with red lettering and white with blue lettering was too confusing on the board (hence the predominant red and blue counters for the various sides). Also thinking of printing gray and white counters for the color blind and/or those with color printing issues...
If you have any ideas or wishes ... let me know ASAP!
I am not one of those professional type Illustrators, I am a self learner using Power Point to make these counters. Don't think I can remake a map in Power Point..besides I have always liked the one by VG - I even have a framed copy on my game room wall. Remaking the map would take one of them there "Perfessional Illustrator Type Peeples". Hope I did your variants proud! (I assume you are THE Warren Bruhn from whom many of these ideas have sprung?!?!?)
Robert, as far as I know, I was the first to throw some files out into the electronic space about adding such leaders as Kearny, the cavalry demotion for Earl Van Dorn, infantry option for Sheridan, cavalry option for Price, Union admirals Dupont and Dahlgren, and Confederate admirals Buchanon and Semmes. I had made crude hand drawn counters for these guys which I still have (and for a lot of new CSA ships).
Somebody took that stuff off of emails and turned it into a text file that was posted on Web Grognards (and it is still there). And other people started contributing a mass of other leaders.
By the way, regarding the ships, I like having most of the CSA ironclads, a couple of CSA river ram fleets for those that fought at New Orleans and Memphis (work like Union river transports), and a couple of the early less successful raiders, the Nashville and the Sumpter, which I allow a role of 1d6 for Union ships sunk. Having the extra ironclads allows me to give a name appropriate to where the ironclad is placed. For example, if I place a CSA ironclad at New Orleans, I will place the Louisianna or Mississippi. Don't suppose you feel like doing a bunch of alternate naval ships, do you? There might be some black and white images on the web that could be put on alternate naval counters.
