What tool set did you use to do these? Any chance of vector/PDF versions that will rescale to arbitrary dimenions? (If not, no big deal - I just figured I'd ask).
Find a creature or two with similar pose or body shape. Grayscale and crank up the contrast to make the silohuettes. Cut and paste the parts you want to use for a new specimen. Fill in the background with the tile color. Then resize just small enough to fit on the tile. Done.
Im not sure what you mean by arbitrary dimensions. I have the original large-sized images for most of them. I didnt save it for a few specimens if that's what you were asking.
The other stuff like the tools were grayed-out and resized from other items found on the net. The pods and locks were made in basic paint program and duplicated.
