SL 4E RULES & INDEX.pdf (604 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
I originally created this document to reduce downtime as I played the base game. Since I spent dozens of hours creating it, I thought I would share the fruits of my labor with fellow players. Comments/feedback welcomed. Enjoy!
I am currently in the process (18-months and counting) of re-organizing SL, COI, COD, & AOV into one rule book under a different set of case numbers. That is all rules pertaining to a certain subject will be found under a single case number. They will also have tags after each case number entry listing the original case number. The goal is not to have to flip pages from one supplemental rule to another to track down a simple point. In addition all question and answers will be inserted after the appropriate case number in a smaller and highlighted font. Indexes will also be combined.
As much as I would like to share this, I'm afraid that the murky world of copyright law would prohibit me. If I'm wrong on this I would love to hear from someone about it.
What you have done with the first section of rules, Squad Leader, is brilliant. Well laid out. You have saved me a lot time. Now for addressing COI and COD. Thanks for you efforts and generosity.

Thanks, Michael.
My plan is to continue to add to my rules work on the basic game as I play through the expansion gamettes. Realistically, this will take several years; it took a friend and I nearly 18 months to play all 12 scenarios of the basic game, playing roughly 3 hours a week - and we're currently "on a break" playing some Blitzkrieg.
If you're impatient and sufficiently motivated, go ahead and make something with all the rulesets that works for you. If you are pleased with what you end up with, let folks know about it, I say.

Except for the references to the original case numbers, that work has already been done. Not by me, mind you, but I have a copy. 186 page Word doc.
Yeah, I would like to share it. That's why I'm being super careful that I get it right. But, and this is a big one, it forgoes the case numbers that so many have become accustom with. It's akin to altering the King James version of the Bible. I could be tarred and feathered and ran out of town on a rail.
I'm following the lead set by Bob Medrow who wrote an article in the General, Volume 20, Number 4, November-December 1980, titled "Getting It All Together - Learning the Squad Leader System." He came up with an outline of case numbered rules that restructures the cases. If your interested in a copy of this article I'd be happy to send it to you. It might illuminate the path you've taken.
By the way that same issue of the General has a great article by Robert D. Harmon, "A New Look At An Old Friend - A Commander's Notebook: BLITZKRIEG." It's sub-topics are: ● Critical Issue #1: Rule Changes Basic Game Basic Game Optional Rules Tournament Game Tournament Game Optional Rules ● Critical Issue #2: The Tactics of Retreat ● Critical Issue #3: Turn One - Blue ● Critical Issue #4: Turn One - Red ● Critical Issue #5: Turn Two ● Critical Issue #6: Primary Theaters ● Critical Issue #7: Secondary Theaters ● Critical Issue #8: Aviation ● Critical Issue #9: The Home Front
It has this killer fighter mission flow chart. There is also an actual colored two page spread of the game board of which I have made copies of to draw out operational plans. You know, circles and arrows in red and blue. Similar to how Arlo Guthrie sang it in "Alice's Restaurant."
Like I said I can make all of this available if it tweaks your interest.
