card_backs.zip (5.19 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
This is the German "naughty" set of cards for Funny Friends, scanned, translated, and photoshopped into English -- for those who have this version of the game, but don't want pasteups. I also felt the translations could be a bit better.

Card backs to use with all the other card files, for use with printing services such as Artscow.

A few comments:

I'm a big fan of Funny Friends -- however, I feel that:

1) The German edition is superior in a number of ways to the American one;
2) I didn't want to contend with paste-ups -- I wanted something that looked a lot better. Moreover, I think the English translations I've seen have errors here and there.
3) I've got amateurish skills with PhotoShop.

So I went ahead and scanned in the cards from the game, matched the font used, and re-translated each card -- and now, each card looks basically identical except that each one is now in English.

I'd like to crowdsource what I've posted: please be critical! Can anybody find errors in my 'shopping, or better yet, can anybody offer better English translations? (It's been a while since I had my college German.) I can post a detailed description of all my edits if people are at all curious.

Links to my "designs" folders on Artscow:

Funny Friends (containing puberty, mega goals, part of Life B)
Funny Friends 1 (containing all goals, rest of life B, part of life A)
Funny Friends 2 (containing the rest of Life A, and some scenes of old-school Las Vegas as an experiment for pimping out my copy of Vegas Showdown - you can use these, or delete them... there are 23 blank spaces left out of the 54 cards)

Note that the dimensions on the Artscow card are different from the scanned design; this will result in white stripes on the sides of each card. I figured this was a small price to pay.

Hey benston, is there any way possible to get the cards without text, so I can translate them to portuguese? (you know, it'll lose a lot of the fun if someone doesn't understand the joke...)

Sure -- although my timeframe/turnaround time will be slower. (It's crunch time at work right now.) FF seemed to indicate he was OK, at least, with me doing all this re-translating, photoshopping, and publishing, so I don't think he would feel that horribly about me editing the text out so others can translate it into their language of choice.

I'll shoot him an email once it's all done. I don't want to spam him (nor do I want to put ridiculous amounts of effort beyond the ridiculous effort I've already put into it) -- so this'll be the last "remix" I put into his game.

(In Windows, the typeface is Eurostile, for the curious.)

I can edit it myself, if it would be easier for you.
(ps.: I'm a graphic designer, so, it's quite trivial hehe)
