Cross fingers, If I have enough work done, I am going to get my first test playings of this in this weekend !!
Awesome! Let me know what you think. I'm testing some minor changes that haven't yet been listed in the rules. (hand limit of 8 cards and some changes to the victory points on the cards) I want to get more input on it before I make an official change.
I've printed out the rules but may not get a chance to play for awhile. Looks interesting. I assume you aren't going to Gencon (if you are going, I'd love a demo)

I wish I was going to Gencon. I'm planning to go to RinCon and BGG.Con so hopefully I'll see you there and can play a game or two with you. I just got my ArtsCow decks yesterday and they turned out pretty nice (they've improved some things since the last time I ordered).
There are a few changes that are being considered since the ArtsCow cards were posted and since these rules were posted:
The hand limit of 8 seems to work well and is an easy change. There are a few cards that will likely end up with reduced victory points and the bandages may end up with no VP and no Ghouls (which adds some interesting situations). The card changes can be made with a Sharpie to mark them out or with tape or a sticker to cover up parts. I want to get more feedback before updating the cards officially though.
I noticed the cards came in the usual cardboard card box instead of a plastic case. I hope Artcow does the obvious --and starts offering customized card boxes. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I've made a few changes to the rules and cards that I want to pass along. The changes were mostly suggested by Hank Panethiere (metalchorus) and they have made the game much more enjoyable than the previous state in my opinion.
1. Hand limit is 8 cards at any time. If you use a card during the Draw phase that would result in a hand that is larger than 8 cards, you must first discard the number of cards that would be in excess caused by the Draw card ability.
2. Health tokens are not worth "zero" as previously stated. Instead, health tokens are worth 1/5 of a Victory Point at the end of the game. This helps to serve as a tie-breaker as before, but also puts value on the final round where players are pitching their remaining Health Tokens into the pot. This is also augmented by the Bandages card being reduced to a value of zero (see below) which adds quite a bit to the depth of the wagering process.
3. Several cards were changed to reflect a lower Victory Point value. For the playtesting prototype, it is easy (even if it is not glamorous) to use a permanent marker to reduce the VP by crossing out the number of stars as indicated:
For all locations -
Bandages: VP reduced from 1 to 0. Also, the number of Ghouls is reduced from 1 to 0. This is the only card (so far) with a Ghoul reduction.
Cow Pie Diversion: VP reduced from 2 to 1 Gunslinger Belt: VP reduced from 2 to 1 Bandolier: VP reduced from 3 to 2 Ammo Crate: VP reduced from 3 to 1
All of the special location cards have been reduced from 4 to 3 VP: Medical Bag, Property Deeds, Mail Bag, Weapons Cache, Bank Notes, and Doc Holloway's Strength Elixir.
I look forward to hearing back any thoughts on this and on how the testing goes. I'm taking a bit of an unstructured approach to the feedback (no long forms to fill out), but this is the type of information I'm looking for:
1. How much did you play? (approximate number of games) 2. How many players were there for the games? (did you try 2-player, 3-player, 4-player etc.) 3. Did you enjoy the game? If so, what made it enjoyable? 4. Was anything broken? Was anything not enjoyable, tedious, fiddly etc? 5. Were the rules understandable? 6. Any suggestions for improvement or comments? 7. Names of playtesters to be added to the acknowledgements.
Thanks so much for your participation, I hope you enjoy the game!
