FAQ: (Place holder for variant questions)

Q1: How many hands does your opponent start out with?
A1: None. His first hand is created by his first led action.

Q2: When the game ends how does he complete the buildings to resolve his vault?
A2: He uses the materials in his vault.
If he has no wood then he can't complete a wood building etc. All materials used to complete his buildings are set out of play and do not count in his vault scoring. Be sure to check after each building is completed to to see if his vault is equal to or below his influence allowance. Once this happens, stop completing buildings and go to final scoring.
If none of his material can complete a building (no partials) or he has no more buildings to complete then a random draw of the necessary quantity from his vault will resolve the issue.

For a harder/more thematic game: Consider his stockpile materials first and then the vault materials when completing his "end game" buildings.

Q3: Can I end the game by taking the last in-town building site even though I have filled all of my building quadrants?
A3: No, you cannot take and/or construct more than 8 buildings/sites. If you find yourself in this position, you need to try and run out your draw deck as quickly as possible which can be a tall order (hopefully you will have materials to vault). It is important that you plan the pacing of your game to keep your options open until you determine how the game will end (or how you want it to end).

Q4: What is the most points that I can score by completing and filling all of my building quadrants?
A4: 5 points. Referring to the layout on the first page of the rules both of the 2 building quadrants (A&B) would gain you 1 point each. The 3 building quandrant (C) is worth 2 points and the single building quadrant is worth 1 point but only if the 3 building quadrant was completed. Thus the maximum score is 1+1+2+1 or 5 points.

Errata: On page 3.c.ii, I errantly state vault instead of stockpile when referring to the architect action. The normal rules apply. The architect will always take material from the stockpile and not the vault.

Q5: Could you clarify the laborer action if the game has buildings under construction? For example: If there is a wood and a marble in the pool and he has a wood building under construction, does he take the wood or the marble?
A5: The game will always start with the highest "coined" material (marble/stone) available before considering the "lower" valued ones. This is regardless of his current building(s) under construction. The only consideration is if he has, for example, a stone building under construction and there is marble and stone in the pool. He would take the stone one since it has a value of 3 and could be used to complete his building.

Further examples: (he has a brick and a stone building under construction and he has finished the Tower (may use rubble in any structure) He would take ____ from the following pools.

Pool: wood and concrete
Takes: concrete (no brick building under construction and the brick is worth more "coins")

Pool: wood and rubble
Takes: rubble (the tower allows the use of rubble in any building - it is used in the building that is closest to completion which would be the brick building in the example or the stone building if it had one material already in it and the brick had none since the stone building has a higher value. See the rules for additional details.)

Pool: marble and brick
Takes: marble (since it has the higher coin value)
