This variant provides simple rules for Airborne Infantry, Marines, Mechanized Infantry, Combined Arms, Directed Artillery, and Armed Transports for the Axis and Allies Spring 1942 game. They are simple, easily implemented, and provide for many of the same types of game play found in other Axis & Allies games without adding extra pieces. There are also some new ideas modified from Larry Harris' variants for other Axis & Allies games.

Directed Artillery is one such rule. Larry Harris created this variant for A&A D-Day, but these rules adapt it for use in A&A Spring '42.

These rules should provide for a deeper game with more player options with little added complexity and no significant lengthening of the game, all without having more pieces! Have fun with the game!

Forgotblush HAT TIP to Jan Ozimek for the Airborne Infantry rule.

He also included a limitation that airborne troops had to be dropped in the first hostile territory that the aircraft moved over, so as to prevent bypassing enemy stongpoints. Sorry for the delayed credit, but better late than never.

Entrenchment- Any infantry (not Mech) and artillery positioned in a territory with a victory city dig in and dig deep and are awarded a +1 for defence.
