A very nice set of replacement counters for this old warhorse.
Since all the other divisions were given (at least it was attempted) their Italian divisional name, I took the liberty of changing the Italian "FASCISTS" division to "FASCISTI", it is actually the 136th Inf Div GIOVANI FASCISTI (Young Fascists) more commonly refered to as the GGFF.
Also, corrected the spelling of the Italian "FOLGERE" Regiment to "FOLGORE" (Lightening).
I gave the British substitute counters each a "[BG]" (Battlegroup) echelon symbol, It always bothered my military mind that they never had an echelon symbol.
Although I didn't change them (maybe a future project) there are several mis-spelled Italian units:
The "TRENTA" Division should be "TRENTO" (102nd Mot Div Trento, but had no trucks)
The "SAVENA" Division should be "SAVONA" (55th Inf Div Savona)
The "PISTOLIO" Division should be "PISTOIA" (16th Inf Div Pistoia). Although, I have to admit, the mental image of a bunch of Italians running around in the desert branishing pistols is pretty cool!!
There is no record of an Italian division with the name of "CENTOR" (Center). I assume it is an ad hoc unit consisting of the remnants of the SIRTE, MARMARICA, CIRENE, and CATANZARO Divisions which were destroyed during Operation Compass in Jan/41.
As for the germans, I have no idea where the designation of Fallschirm Brigade 51 comes from. It was actually Fallschirm Brigade "AFRIKA" or as it was more commonly known, Fallschirm Brigade "RAMCKE", after it's commander.
