You could have submitted these updated files as updates to the previously submitted ones - that'd have made them go through the approval process faster, and would have made it so they don't have an individual list entry in files with their own thumbs count and all.

Nevertheless, great to have this on BGG as well now

Yes, I know, but I did it this way on purpose. The original entry went all the way back to pre-production rules, which were then updated. Because of that, the comments posted below it were about things long since settled/clarified in the rules. I figured a new person downloading the most up to date rule book would be confused or, at the very least, not helped by it.

So, yes, I lose some thumbs, but I figured a clean slate would be better. I did the same thing for the scenario book, player aid card, and production pad.

Have any rules changed? Or is the rulebook just updated to make things clearer?

No offense but you have a lot of blue this early in the process. Rule 8.2.2 clarification for instance is a major change for someone learning the rules from either the pre release or the actual game rules.

Another issue I see is the vagueness I found with 'hidden units' because you could argue SY's are not combat units because they cannot move and really only defend, thus they could be considered non hidden units . The game really changes when the SY's are not hidden.

It's good to see such an active designer at least and I'm having fun thus far playing the game.

That is misleading. We have had a very active forum drawing a lot of people from both ends of the wargaming/eurogaming spectrum. Ted collated every single question asked online (both here and consimworld) between the release of the rules in May and September. Many of the questions were people just making sure, etc. I then took all of those questions and modified the rules so that, in theory, they would have never been asked.

Dunno, I played it exactly like that from the start, and I that was in the first week after I got my P500 copy.

This is absolutely outstanding support for the game. If I could give you 100 thumbs for this I would. I already think the rule book/scenario book works very well and after a couple of plays only have to reference them on occasion. I almost always find what I was looking for right away.

Thanks!

Thanks for releasing an updated edition, and I'm very glad they aren't rule changes, but only clarifications of how existing rules interact. Please never stop improving.

Jim, I don't care what those other game designers say about you, in my books you are a pretty smart cookie.
