Aha! Seems like some of the grumbles about unintended NMA effects on the Godly (including mine) have reached Lord Charles!
Re 1): letting any lost Parliamentary Local Notables who have "leader" counters back at New Model Army time.
This, I would guess, would be a disincentive to the Malignant to go after LNs much after mid-mid war, if they're going to spring back to life a couple of turns later (though without the recruiting ability). It would also help the Godly with their lack of highly mobile generals in the endgame. My version of this would be to make sure, as the parliament player, that Massey and Brereton survive until the NMA with at least one brigade in hand, so their newly-crowned generals don't get removed for lack of brigades. Of course, easier said than done...
2) and 3) deactivate Sheffield E.I. and make 11 points the VP threshold.
Dunno how that would play. Sheffield is the only E.I. between Newcastle and Northampton, and changes hands an awful lot. I find that unless the King is 'on his uppers' in the last couple of turns, Sheffield is a cheap way he has of keeping the Godly score down; even if the game is evenly matched at that point it's a 'gimme' for one of the princes. So on balance, I'd call deactivating Sheffield an improvement (or would that turn the game into a 'North vs. South' dynamic?)
4) After the NMA the Royalists still have to choose militias before veterans when recruiting.
I like it!
Next play, I'll try these ideas.
Thanks, L.C. and Joel.
