TwilightStruggleCheatSheetv2.pdf (159 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
.pdf version for your convenience. Hey all thanks to Like2CivIV for the feedback. This includes all of the updates. I had a .png file out there, but the admins ban hammered it. Not sure why, but I imagine .pdf is more convenient for most. I created this in Omnigraffle for the MAC. If anyone would like the raw file, I'd be happy to email it to you to customize for your own needs.

Cheers!

Tim

While I am grateful for the terrific players aids that have come out, I needed something with a few more visual cues for me (I am just not that smart!) Feedback is welcome. IT guys with design experience will recognize the software architecture flavor of this doc.

This is a very nice aid, and one I will use. I'm very new to Twilight Struggle, so may not have a full grasp of all the rules, but I noticed some things in the aid which don't quite jibe with the rules as I understand them and I suggest these changes:

1) The number of required military operations is not set prior to playing action rounds. My interpretation of 8.2.1 is that at the end of the turn the required number of military operations is the DEFCON status number at that time (at the end of the turn). Thus, if DEFCON status changes during the course of the action rounds, the required military operations changes, too. If I'm right, I suggest moving the set required military operations line to between the actions rounds segment and check military operations line.

2) Playing your card for Influence, Realignment or Space Race do not result in military operation points, so I suggest changing the heading in the second column of the action rounds segment to be "Play Your Card As An Operation" (dropping the word "Military").

3) For clarity, I suggest changing the parenthetical line in the 3rd block of the 2nd column of the action rounds segment to be "These are the points you spend to do ONE and only ONE of the following types of operations per Round. You must spend all operational points." (my interpretation of 6.0)

4) Add to text on Realignment Rolls that each realignment attempt costs 1 operations point (6.2.1) and that no influence is ever added (6.2.3)

5) Add to text on Coup Attempt that military operation points = operations points (this is also stated in the check military operations section below, but putting it here would reinforce the point)

Thanks for a great aid!

Hey John,

Thanks for taking the time to review. I will take a look at your feedback this weekend and repost a new version. Great suggestions. We road tested this aid a few weeks ago and there was some additional feedback, including clarifying that you can place as much influence as you have the points for anywhere, even in multiple countries. We were previously playing that you could only place influence in one country per Operation.

I will do some legwork, the only item that gives me pause is I am not sure you have to spend all of your operations points. You probably would want to, but I can see where it would be possible that you did not want to, or couldn't. Example, spending influence in one country with an enemy in it (say 2 with a card of Ops points of 3) and if you had no other uncontested point where you could use the last point to spend influence.

All the best.

Tim
