You might try some of the free online DOC-to-PDF converters.

Not sure how well they work, but there are several to choose from.

If I download it on my Mac, i can convert it to pdf easily (save as pdf is a print option). Folks with a PC have a harder time, I hear.

BTW I found I CAN read .doc on my ipad via Pages!
