Red Dragon Cards_v_1_1.pdf (1.88 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Updated version of the Red Dragon. Added more HP and updated cards to have multiple attacks in one turn. These changes should give a party of 3 + Level 5 heroes a better challenge.

Red Dragon Cards_v_1_0.pdf (563 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
Ashardalon is definitely the inspiration here, although many of his tactics are directly from the monster manual for a Ancient Red Dragon.

Since, the Red Dragon's tactics are now in a separated deck I can reduce his card to a standard size.

This should prove a challenge to custom level 5 Heroes, particularly the unpredictability of his breathe attack.

This looks awesome!

Having a small deck which randomizes the Villains attack seems like a fantastic mechanic. I also like how his deck gets more deadly as it gets smaller, until you draw a very dangerous cards which shuffles everything back together. Well done. thumbsup

Thanks Tom, but this isn't possible without your template. This is the first in a series I'll be publishing in a geeklist. I will also have ready links for Artscow as well.

Play testing and comments are encouraged

Enjoy!

I used this version tonight in my final battle. It was a three stage boss fight with a custom "Red Lady" as the human/spellcaster form, followed by the normal Ashardalon and then finally this version. The characters trounced all three. 4x level 5 - equivalent to Drizzt, Catti-Brie, Wulfgar and Jarlaxal. Though HPs were low on Wulfgar and Drizzt no surges were used though plenty of daily powers and one shot magic items.

Its a good idea. I did something similar with a mind-flayer. But maybe it actually needs to be tougher. Attacking multiple times a turn. Or larger HP pool. Not sure. In fact the weakness isnt the attacks, they were fine and scared the characters. Its just there is no way this mob can take the so many powerful hits from daily powers. Double the hp pool perhaps.

Michael,

Thanks for your comments I've uploaded a new version of the file and am waiting for BGG to approve.

I've uploaded images so you can update your printed cards. I essentially raised his HP and gave him the ability to have multiple attacks in one turn 25% of the time.

Brilliant!

One of the main issues most folks have with the monster AI is the predictability of it, which makes it very succeptible to being "gamed".

Folks seem to prefer the Gears of War AI model, just because it is unpredictable.

All the Villans ought to have a deck like this...it completely resolves the main issue folks have with the AI. It might be a little much to have it for every single monster, but having it for all the Villans is not unreasonable.

Brilliant!

Peace
