I decided to design my own set of traitor cards based on the Avalon Hill edition. So, instead of selecting leader discs at the start of the game as potential traitors, shuffle the leader card deck (less the factions not being played) and deal each player the correct amount of cards from which they select and keep (face down!) a traitor during the game.

Will shortly be replaced by version 1_2, which adds detail on Worthless Cards, Truthtrance, and Karama.

Now supplanted by version 1_1.

Francesco Neri had posted a version of the Dune board that was a visual feast. http://boardgamegeek.com/image/495528/dune Unfortunately, it contained a large number of typos and Rim Wall West was mistakenly shown as desert territory. With my wife's help - we've proofed the map and fixed everything we could find. (Including the Arrakeen typo and the Habbanya Erg one contained in my original upload) The overall design is what carries the day for me. Neri's choice to have the territory labels face outward (rather than towards a single player) reminds me of Avalon Hill's Diplomacy boards. Egalitarian, and attractive. The choice to make like territories appear the same makes this a more usable board than the original. If a design similar to Neri's board had shipped with the original game - you wouldn't have people asking questions like "What's rock - what's not?" ( http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/493464/whats-rock-whats-not) Neri had posted links to corrections, but none of them seemed to be functional. All props to Neri for the design - I just tuned it up for my use and figured I'd share. Happy gaming.

Dune Player Aid - Standard Rules - Color Coded - The Spice Must Flow!

Very low ink and low cost print and play Dune. Designed to be printed onto 19 sheets of US Letter card stock. Total cost should be under US$3. See my printing tips comment on this page and the image links comment. Includes map, shields, tokens, cards. Does not include player aids or rules. Suggestions for improvement gladly accepted.

I've used other rule books and guides to Dune, but didn't find them sufficient with the way my mind works. I find that using this makes a great quick reference to make sure nothing is forgotten while you're playing as well as a handy guide for teaching the game to new players. This guide isn't thorough enough to act as a replacement to the rules. It does include the optional rules as well as some common house rules. v1.1 includes a few minor omissions that others wanted to see in the guide. v1.2 some minor organizational changes.

Custom markers I made to determine how much the storm moves each time. I made them to fit Domnhall board style since that's the version I usually play with.

Those shields I made to replace the ones I had. You can print them on a letter sized sheet with no border for best results. You can also see the pictures in the picture gallery. The player aid back was done by Jormungandr83

6 individual faction cards (very loosely inspired by Dominant Species player mats). Gives the turn order and inserts each factions powers into the sequence for easy reference. I use these instead of player screens. Includes optional rules and additional character advantages. (29.12.2011 - for the first time I opened these in MS Word and the background image is off centre. Looks fine when opened in Open Office (which was used to create them)

Treachery cards - Basic 33 cards, 5 cards from Spice Harvest exp, 5 from The Duel, 2 from General magazine.

Alliance cards for 6 basic factions and Bonus cards. These are additional "assistant" components for Dune. It's highly recommended to include them in game.

Atreides Kwisatz Haderach card and Storm cards (these 6 Storm cards can be used as replacement for 6 Storm Movement tokens)

Being new to the Dune game, I find the rulebook a little unwieldy as I play with all of the advance and optional rules. So I've rearranged the standard rulebook (nothing drastic) to incorporate the advanced rules into the turn order, essentially removing the Basic/Advanced game distinction. The rulebook makes reference to the game pieces I've built and includes rules explanations discussed and posted here on BGG. Thanks to everyone who has cleared up a lot of rules questions and have posted home-brew files to allow me to make and play this great game.

Here are some ability summaries to put on the reverse of the player shields in Ilya 77's recent build of Dune. Please read the instructions, as the pages will need to be scaled down so that they fit the backs of the shields. (Version 1.0)

Having found many different versions of the suggested expansion races, here is my compilation of the ones I found.

Aid for the Atreides player for taking records about treachery cards during the game. This aid contains cards from basic game + cards from expansions (Duel and Spice harvest). Aid is only on bottom half of page, so Atreides player can fold it in middle and easily hide his notes from other players. Inspiration taken from Jeremiah_Lee idea.
