The variant rules replace much of the base game system to make it less abstract while keeping the complexity low and the gameplay fluid. The Poitiers scenario is built from scratch (and "Men of Iron") for a more "historically acurate" experience than the one coming with Ancients could provide. Comes with new map and extra counters.

Additional counters to the set I posted below with new unit types: Camelry,Spears,Heavy Chariots,Pikes,Byzantine and Mounted Archers,Axeman,War Wagons,Artillery and Siege Towers. In three colours to match previous set, also with notes on new types and fire missile extension table.

Large counters (ships or Cogs) and Map for the naval scenario of Sluys. The map is 2xA4 with overlaps in a PDF. (Note: you will still need some of the original counters and the scenario itself which is provded with the original downloadable game)

Custom turn and panic tracks. Includes reminder notes. Color coded for use with the PnP version (red/blue). THIS VERSION IS UPDATED - Fixes a small typo.

Simple, one sheet turn and panic tracks for the PnP version of Ancients. I had to trim this off of the maps, so I made one up. Nothing fancy, but it works for me. Includes a 20 turn turn track (with note about nightfall and ending at turn 6/12 for land battles, and turn 20 for naval battles) and color coded panic tracks for red and blue, for use with the Panic x1 and Panic x10 counters.

Here you have a sheet of house rules (playtested) for playing William L.Banks game series ANCIENTS on squares rather than hexes. IMHO, it's better this way. Try it!
