Pirates of the Spanish Main™ is the world’s first constructible strategy game™

In Pirates of the Spanish Main, players make fleets of ships to sail to different islands looking for treasure. This booty is obtained in one of two ways: commanding your salty dogs to dig it out of the ground or sending your opponent’s ships to Davy Jones’ locker! Either way, game play is fast and fun, and the built-in damage tracking system makes Pirates of the Spanish Main the game of choice of wannabe-buccaneers everywhere.

Pirates of the Spanish Main will include 230 different collectible pieces, including ships, crew, treasure, and famous (and infamous!) personalities. It will sell in Booster Packs that each contain at least one ship, island, and crew; a small six-sided die; and complete rules for play.

Along with single expansion packs, there are also Megapacks, Special Edition Boxes, and Megatins available after April 2007. Megapacks contain 4 ships or monsters, a mega-card (giant dragon, catamaran, or wind catcher), two dice, and several terrain cards. Special Edition boxes contain one of four SE ships (Jape, HMS Burma, USS Seattle, and Lost Hope). The tin also contains six ships or monsters and a large die. Megatins are beautifully decorated tins that contain four packs of Pirates at Ocean's Edge cards, two junk ships (in plastic wrapping) that have been captured by one of the six nations in Ocean's Edge, and a crew card

March 15, 2005- Pirates of the Spanish Main Unlimited: this is a reprint of the original cards but updated to match the colors and rarity ratings of the Pirates of the Crimson Coast expansion.

June 2005- Pirates of the Revolution: Added American faction added; New ship types Galley, Blockade Runner, and 4 masted Schooner added; New ability, Marine, added; New named and generic crew for all five factions added; New generic crew, Firepot Specialist, added; New special treasures added.

Pirates of the Revolution introduces the Americans to the Pirates game. But the other nations—Spain, England, France, and Pirates—get a boost to their ranks as well. Americans are a hardy bunch of privateers, so they make an excellent addition to any fleet, or they make a mighty fleet on their own!
But what would the historical American fleet be without historical American personalities and ships? Characters from history mingle with the scurviest dogs ever to sail the seas, including famous Americans like John Paul Jones. And the set includes ships like the 5-masted United States and the 4-masted schooner, the Saratoga.
Pirates of the Revolution also features two new game mechanics: fire and events. On a wooden sailing ship, fire was one of the most feared calamities. You can also “buy” an event as part of the cost of your fleet. Events represent mysterious things like mermaids or a becalmed section of the ocean.

Some of the characters featured in this set include Ms. Cheng, former wife of the famous pirate warlord Ching Yi, who died in battle with imperial forces; she’s risen to the head of the pirate confederation. Ms. Cheng and her closest ally, Chang Pao, have defeated every Chinese expedition sent to crush the confederation. Other new Pirate characters include The Headhunter, who captains the Blackheart (formerly HMS Conrad but renamed in honor of the famous Spanish Main pirate). Pirate favorite Calico Cat also appears in the set, brandishing renewed strength, abilities, and need for revenge.
Piracy and politics in the South China Seas frequently combined to produce powerful pirate empires strong enough to influence the rise and fall of imperial dynasties. But in this game, history can be rewritten and anything can happen!
