The game as a game is just Snakes and Ladders/Chutes and Ladders' That only has 2.7. Dunno why this has a higher rating. Subject matter makes people mess with the ratings, probably.

Unfortunately, a point made too often by highly hypocritical people. They are rating a game they've never played as a '10' to make a point about others rating a game that they've never played?!?!?!?

Actually, it's some form of a weighted average. The game has 5 ratings - 3 ones and 2 tens. By my math, that should be a 4.6 rating, so the number of ratings must be applied as a weight somehow.

A more interesting question might be "Who rated this a ten?" But then, I wouldn't really care to know...

I think that each rated game automatically get a certain number of "5" ratings, something to do with shill busting. I guess that the "1" votes that it garners are offset by the 5s. I'm not going to check, the game certainly doesn't need another hit to push it up the hot games chart.

It would seem that the only question here is of the date of printing. It seems from the existing pictures that the game does exist, but the question is whether it was actually printed at the time claimed.

The picture I uploaded was from an eBay seller, who I asked permission to upload the picture. I haven't seen seen this game to make an assessment as to whether or not it is "old".

The above link is the the eBay auction of this game, you will notice that the person who sold the game is no longer registered and no feedback was left regarding that auction.

Dunno if its real or not, sounds shady.

Well, the only pictures available (one here on BGG and one on at the above listed auction site) show copies in surprisingly good condition for a supposedly 70 year old game.

Did a yahoo map search of the supposed address of this company... The Hudson Brothers Publishing Co., 127 42nd St, Buffalo New York. No such adress exists. Okay, maybe things have changed since the 1930's, but...changed street names? Hmm...still leads to the fishiness of the whole thing.

I also searched on two different search engines the publishers name. Nothing. The only match is a link right here to BGG.

Even if it was an old company, long out of business...I find it hard to believe there's nothing about them on the internet. I mean jeez...there's websites about EVERYTHING...

Until some really good evidence surfaces, I think the tentative conclusion has to be "hoax".

Kinda seems like a hoax to me. Try doing an internet search for this? It comes up with a blog or two and then links to bad pages (404 Not Found), Porn sites, and eBay auction pages...though if you search eBay, nothing comes up either...

Hot games just shows you what games the most people are loading the game page of. Whatever the reason for them looking at it might be isn't explained. This wouldn't be the first game to pop up on the list because it was mentioned in a blog/journal/forum entry.

("Hot Games" just means "games somebody mentioned, and everybody looked at?" Not "games people are excited about" or "games people are playing" or "games people would want to play, if only they knew about them?" I don't imagine this falls into any of those categories, for anyone on BGG.)
