Thread: Session Report

I was recently able to play my first round of Armati II. Using suggestions from the Armati group we settled on playing the Late Carthegians vs. the Republican Romans. We tried to take what we felt was "standard lists". I played the Carthegians.

The Romans played a balanced deployment and I held most of my cavalry on my left flank where it could get to a hill quickly. On his first turn the Roman advanced his entire battleline and moved his skirmishers forward to harry my right. I held my main line and advanced my left flank. The second turn we both advanced and my left flank (2 light divisions of horse and a heavy horse) met his right flank (1 light horse). I was able to easily surround the horse. Turn three saw our main lines meet. My less than able infantry began to take a serious beeting, but by this turn I had managed to destroy his LC on my left. I then, in turns four through, I believe, seven, rolled up his line with my horse.

The game played well. We were set up and broken down within two hours and it had a very historic "feel" with lines meeting each other rather than hand picked groups. I did, however, miss DBx's rock-paper-scissors feel.
