Thread: Re: Why Settlers of Catan is the GOAT

Not as enthusiastic as you, but I sure agree that Settlers should be the game of the masses instead of Monopoly.

For that, my vote would go for Ticket to Ride, not to say that it's a better game. However, it's a very good game, extremely easy to learn, and I'm sure I could get a Monopoly player to play it. Settlers is a good game and relatively simple (without the expansions), but I think it would be harder than TtR for the non-gamer crowd to pick up on.

The size for hexagons in Settlers is 45mm baseline. spielmaterial.de has had such hexes some time ago, but they seem to be sold out.

ummm. they're made of chipboard. you can get chipboard from an art supply place;)

or you can buy pre-cut hexes from a german web site. Though I suggest getting other things if you go this route. The web site is:

http://www.spielmaterial.de/english/

look under counters, hexagons to find 'em.

I believe the size for the hexagons used in settlers is 40mm baseline.

hope this helps:)

::Edit:: added web site

I think its new cards and a border.

Well, Salvage, Water, Bantha, Ore, and Tatooinian Domesticated Wheat... ;)

(Hey, that last one is listed as an actual commodity on Star Wars Galaxies, so it's fair game for the Settlers of Tatooine.)

EDIT: Holy carp, I need a Psychologist microbadge.

Thread: Board Material

Hey, y'all. What material are the hexes from the Mayfair 4th ed. made of? I'm trying to put together a 'Settlers of Tatooine' set for a friend - I'll have the art up in the files section after finals - and I want to reproduce the game as faithfully as possible. Anybody know? Thanks!
