Thread: Question about cards that make exits move

If a player is moving to the exit, can I prevent him from winning by playing an event card that would move the exit away ?
Or would the player win anyway, because moving takes precedence over any other events played in response ?

Thanks

Thread: Portals on Bridge?

I played this for the first time on April 9th (just 2 players) and it was pretty fun. I think it would need more players to be more fun, though.

Anyway, on the Bridge card there looks to be 3 portals but 2 of them are so small I wasn't sure. The small ones seem to fit the portal description as they have light coming out of them but I wasn't sure. We played it as them being portals. Are there 3 or 1?

Thread: User Review

Abduction is a quick, simple, card-based game which is good for filling in a spare minute or two with the right players. I say 'with the right players' becasue if your group doesn't like the huge 'screw-your-neighbour' element to the game then they will probably hate it.

The game turn is very simple. The active player takes three actions, and after each, the other players get a chance to react to the move by playing a, typically nasty, card in response.

Action options are straight forward, allowing the player to move a space, lay a card down to increase the play area, or activate a special ability.

One element I quite liked is how players gain items. The serach action allows a player to take an item card from his hand and roll against a number printed on his current location to see if he/she finds it. Thus it is easier to find a weapon in an armoury than in a corridor. This gives players an incentive to venture into otherwise dangerous rooms. If an item is not found, it remains face down at the location. Any player who spends an action there can try and find it.

The objective of the game is to be the first player to escape the ship. Anyone who 'dies' in an encounter blacks-out and finds themselves back in the holding cell where they started. This can be a bit frustrating if people are ganging up on you. But it is great fun to screw your friends just as they are about to escape :0

All of the cards in the game are green and white, which can make some a bit hard to read but adds to the 'alien' feel.

There are also some leathal combinations of cards which can make a player almost unstoppable.

I suppose, in a way, I shouldn't technically be enjoying this game. But it clearly isn't meant to be taken seriously, so the flawed mechanics and heavy luck element don't bother me at all. All I know is that my friends and I have a blast playing this. But only as a filler

I tried the game where you could only play cards on your own turn, except for defensive cards. It played much better that way and I'd highly recommend playing this way.

www.houstongamers.org

The plot? Everyone has been abducted by aliens. The first one who can escape the alien ship wins. If you’ve played Hack!, this game will be incredibly familiar to you, albeit slightly different. This is a single deck card game, so it certainly scores well as far as ‘compactness’ goes. There are three types of cards : Locations, Items, Events. Basically, you build the ship with Locations, you pick up Items occasionally, and you play a lot of Events. A LOT of Events. Every time the active player takes an action, you’re allowed to play an Event. Does this cause a lot of chaos? It does when everyone has a full hand of cards. However, it’s not at all uncommon for all of the players to be low on cards at the same time, so there are SOME relatively calm moments. I suspect many players may be turned off by all of the Event cards, because they often do nasty things like making you discard your whole hand or, even worse, Blacking Out. Nobody dies in Abduction. You merely Black Out and awaken back on the Holding Cell location with absolutely no cards or Items. If you’re looking for a light filler that’s slightly amusing, Abduction may be the game for you. However, it you’re willing to buy a full complement of Hack! decks (which would cost you more than just about any boardgame), you’re probably better off playing Hack!.

2 co-workers and I have been playing this during our lunch break almost daily. It has quickly become a favorite game of mine. Things I love about this game: 1)the alien theme, 2) the modular board, 3) it's non-collectible!, 4) it can get really nasty and furious.

I'm not going to say anything bad about this game because the minor complaints aren't even worth mentioning. It's a good game. Go buy it!
