I haven't used the tunnel yet but I can see how that would cause a problem. People get messed up a lot on jumps. But, once they learn "the touch" it is not a problem. Crokinole really helps out there. I wish I could play PitchCar more often.

You may not be able to do most of the track configurations that use all the pieces though. In fact, 4'x4' may be really good, as you never have to lean far to flick your car.

EDIT: I made this glowing review because although it's expensive and the track may not always line up, it's worth whatever you pay for it. Maybe I can incite the mob to demand a reprint.

We switched to this method 1/3 of the way through our first game. It seems to work much better, eases the congestion problems a bit, and makes passing more of a meaningful event.

Meh, I wasn't really thinking all the way drunk, just after a couple of beers. I read somewhere that it was game you could play with a drink in your hand and I was curious if anyone had this experience. I just purchased it w/the two expansions.

Now, with really drunk I imagine that someone has added some special drinking game rules like; "if your car flips upside down, take a drink or if it goes of the track, take two drinks."

Not that I would do that. I'm pretty sure someone would put an eye out or swallow the car at some point. I don't need that kind of heat.

Glad to hear it was a hit! I haven't had the chance to play it with 7 yet, but imagine that it could get quite hectic. I agree with the log jam issue though. I find it the worst before the tunnel if it is setup. I find people tend to try and get their piece so it is straight on to make the shot easier. But when doing this, the person behind them can not make it through. All in all though, this sometimes gives time for the rest of the pack to catch up (or get hindered).
I look forward to playing pitchcar every chance I get!

Thread: Spreading the Good News.

The Setup

PitchCar finally made it out for its first real game at church on Sunday. In between our morning and evening services, we had a little going away party for my buddy’s nephew. He is moving back to Oklahoma so we thought it would be a great idea to gather some folks together to eat food and play games. Like we needed a reason for that!

After the meal I pulled out PitchCar with extensions 1 and 2. I grabbed a nice long table and put all of the track pieces on it. That was the equivalent to turning on a bug zapper during a hot summer night. People started flocking to the table and asked me all sorts of questions about it.

The Game

Shortly after I got a track assembled we started a game. There were 7 players ranging in age from about 5 to 40. The neat thing was that everyone was on an equal playing field. Not one person stood out as the best or worse. It quickly became a hit and got everyone else’s attention in the room. That was not hard to do when there was clapping, yelling, joking, and cheering.

Overall the game play was great. Some tried to flick the car way too hard and it would zoom off the table. That did not slow us down a bit because it gave the opportunity to make fun. The only problem was where one person would create a log jam in tight areas. This made it very difficult for others to get around it without knocking a player off the board. Everyone still loved it and I am looking forward to the next time when I can pull this out in a large group.

So what did I learn? 1. This game sells itself. 2. Crokinole makes great practice for this game. 3. PitchCar is expensive but absolutely worth it. 4. If more extensions come out I’m in trouble. 5. I love dexterity games.

Question: Plays better after a couple of drinks or SCS (Stone Cold Sober)?

Since I'm rarely anything but stone cold sober, I can't really say. Occasionally I'll have a (one) drink, but that's it.

If it's a valid basis for comparison, sleep deprivation has a positive effect on laughs had. Never having been drunk I can't say for certain though.
