h3rne wrote:
Just a quick rules clarification for Nixies.

On p.19 it says you drop a nixie, roll it's dice and the torpedo loses its lock on a roll of 4 or higher.

Looking at the Nixie of the Ranger, it says D2. Should that be D12? Although there are a whole load of Nixies that are D2 on other ships:
Butterfly, Lancer, Vindicator and Strong Bow. Are there DRMs I'm not seeing?

From our FAQ:

Actually both are correct, but a D2 Nixie is currently useless. It is possible that future factions may have torpedoes that are easier to decoy away or that future tech would allow for an "exploding" Nixie roll (if you roll a 2 on a D2 it keeps rerolling) but currently they are vestigal. If you want, you can just remove the D2 Nixies, they cost one point each.

Not from our FAQ:

Also, some environments will make torpedoes easier to decoy as well, but we don't have a book dealing with the space environment yet. One of the "fronts" some of these ships were created to fight in was a torpedo hostile environment.

h3rne wrote:
Is D2 a fancy name for a coin?!

You could use a coin for D2, what we usually do is take any given die and use low half for 1 and high half for 2.

Thread: Re: Eh?

Thanks for the heads up!

This is the first I've heard of these issues but then I didn't compile the test download stuff. I'll have it taken care of directly.

1) What is ESV and ASV? They are not explained on the one page rule sheet.

Energy Screens and Armor Shield Values. Some weapon damages are lowered by both, some by one, some by the other. Some ignore ASV & ESV altogether.

2) What's a command skill die? D6? D8? Dx? Variable?

Command is ussed for initiative. Normal values are D4-D12, and are determined by scenario or by points at the begining of the game.

2a) Same question for Helm, Eng, Wpn?

And the same answer as well.

2b) There is no Skill Die Bonus and Skill Level Table in the demo rules.

All of that was supposed to be filled in on the sheets already. It will be before the end of the week.

3) SR is?

Speed restrictions

4) Nixie and CM are?

Ways to deal with incoming warheads

5) How do you determine what struct column to use on the damage table? Oh, more specifically, the two demo ships look like they have a structure of 2. The damage table has columns for Struct 0 and Struct 1.

The current structure of the ship is the column used. I'll make sure the demo ships have the right results available.

6) What does "Burn on Trips" mean under ammo? If you roll three of a kind the weapon is destroyed?

Exactly.

Damage seems exceedingly brutal. I'm guessing that's intentional, but maybe something is missing and I can't see it.

The brutality of the damage is less on ships with higher structure.

These were supposed to be sample/start rules, so we didn't include things like Nixie and CM, so we will remove those from the sheet.

If I missed one of your questions, or misunderstood it, let me know and I'll address your inquiry directly.

Cheers!

-Donald

Thread: Eh?

Based on a comment from a geeklist (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/15320), I got interested in this game and downloaded the demo rules from the publishers website. Looks pretty nifty, it reminds me of Silent Death.

Unfortunately, after reading the demo rules, I now know less about the game than before...

1) What is ESV and ASV?
