Thread: Re: Player aid submission - Scoring board

Has anyone tried a couple of three scoring track cribbage boards? They would need to be labeled with the score and payouts, but I think they would be sufficient in the number of spots (aren't most games to 121?). Or I suppose you could take a 4 player board and drill additional holes for 6. http://cribbagesupply.comdr4trgrcr.html

Thread: Re: Replace the ‘New Train’ card with ‘Passenger Lines’ from Rails of Europe (with rationale and results after one play)

I have only played once, and there was some discussion of whether your entire network had to be linked, and then someone looked in the rules and we agreed that everything had to be linked. Thus getting to four colored cities will take at least three links and most likely more. There is no requirement that all your track be linked. You can build all over the map if it makes you happy.

Thread: Re: Why no Red Urbanize City Tile

Also the lack of red cities also means that long routes towards the end can no be blocked by urbanising. If you could place red cities, strategis where you build a long route to a western link (hopefully also having thte hotel in the delivery city), would be fairly useless, since by the time you build the western link, someone could bild a city mid way cutting the trips down from say 8 points each to 3.
Thread: Re: Cards to build long links -- Eliminate blocking arguments

dr.mrow wrote:
The blocking of partial builds has always been a little too gamey for my taste, since a real RR would secure station rights in both cities before beginning to build. Nobody built track out into the wilderness hoping they'd be welcome when they arrived in the next town.

Actually there were plenty of weird things that went on in the building of railroads. There were routes that were never finished; there were cases where someone thought they had secured rights, but someone else bought those rights out from under them.

Psauberer wrote:
Since the game is somewhat abstracted (e.g. when you move a cube you are not actually delivering something) I think that placing a "blocking" piece of track does not necessarily have to be looked at aas physically building sections of track that are knowingly going to be left incomplete.

Instead, since it is obviously a move targeting another player, it can be viewed as spending money in ways to make things more difficult or even to sabotage that opponent's plans. It can cover things like causing unrest among workers, greasing the skids of suppliers, or exerting influence on government officials. Certainly the railroad barons employed tactics like that.
Yeah. Like that.
