Thread: Earlier game

There is an earlier game (from 1933) called Hendrik Willem van Loon's Wide World Game where the objective is to get from San Francisco to Manila. The players travel by either steamer or airplane. Clearly from the era when air travel was growing in importance, but ocean travel still had its place.

Thread: Metal Spaceships

The other minor little twist in this game is PB's using those "Buck Rogers"-ish metal spaceship tokens in place of what should clearly have been pieces shaped like airliners.

They did the same thing in at least one of their other games, Conflict (1964). In that one, there is a bizarre looking mix of World War I style Battleships, Civil war era cannons, and these same retro-SF spaceships.
