You might come up with a good variant along those lines. Do you have a group to try it out with?

Or - We can just play it the way the rules say. That is what makes the game fun, the unpredictability of everything.

Am all for game variants. I just do not think this game needs one. Sorry.

What if everyone chooses a hand. You can also trade one card from your hand for one off the top of the deck at the beginning of each round. At the end of each round, pass your hand to the player on your left. Now its different each round, but with some predictability.

Move forward 1,2,3. 2 left turns. 2 right turns. 1 Backup. 1 u-turn. So then it's only about getting the right priority first.

Could be interesting, but it makes me think of doing a draft, which sounds like a lot more fun.

Thread: No-luck Variant
No-luck Variant:

Instead of dealing out new hands of cards each round, each player maintains a single hand chosen at the start of the game.

Set-up: In turn, each player selects any card from the deck and adds it to his hand. Keep selecting until each player has nine cards.

During programming rounds, each player programs his robot with cards from his selected hand. A player always uses the same cards round after round.

When a robot takes damage, the player chooses a card(s) to set aside to maintain his hand limit. These cards become available again when the robot is repaired.

That's about it. A few options may have to be adjudicated, but it shouldn't be too hard to work things out.
reapersaurus wrote:
I think the problem is not that they don;t get screwed with the carddraw (since I've seen them spin for multiple turns when they need to go somewhere), it's that the computer never makes mistakes - if it has the cards to get to a spot, it will always instantly see it and play them perfectly (unlike most humans).
They ought to have difficulty levels, which translate to the odds of the AI making a mistake or two per turn.

You know, so the computer is kind of simulating a human who's simulating a robot. :)
