Thread: Do you like puzzles? Using a spinner? This game's for you.

Myst is only really a game for people who like puzzles and variations on games like Sorry. That's not to say it's a bad game, just not for hardcore (or most casual) gamers.

Components: 216 puzzle pieces (half blue, half yellow, each of which is a complete puzzle of the picture on the gameboard), 2 pawns, Spinner, Instruction manual, and Gameboard with seven locations from the video game. Decent quality, though it's simply a picture of the island from the game.

Gameplay: First, the number of rounds to be played is decided. Then, Each player picks a color (yellow or blue), and attempts to assemble the puzzle the quickest using their color. The challenge is that a player can only play a piece that connects to what they've already put down. After the puzzle is completed, each person places their pawn on their starting piece. They then spin the spinner to move, with each puzzle piece representing a space. If a player can get to one of an opponents location, they lay their piece on top of it. At the end of the game, points are tallied for each controlled location.

Conclusion: If you like puzzles, this is a really fun game. There can be a bit of an imbalance if one person (ie my wife) is excellent at puzzles and their opponent (ie me) is not. The person who's better can easily take the majority of locations. However, if you enjoy the game mechanic, it's normally still fun.

Rating: If you're a puzzle fan, 7.5 out of 10. If you're the average BGG gamer, who digs heavy fare with lots of strategy, 2/10.

Thread: Re: Component Question

Unless I just miscounted, there should be 108 of each color. Just compare the piece count for both colors. They should have the exact same number.

Thread: Component Question

Does anyone know how many pieces there are in each puzzle for this game?? I just found it at a thrift store, and there is no component list included. I don't want to put together the puzzle to make sure the pieces are there, because then I might have an unfair advantage when we play.

So, again, if anyone knows how many pieces are included for each puzzle please let me know.

Thank You!
